Well if you are going on a trip I recommend a trick I learned watching some hippie on PBS who had a travel show about how to travel through various areas cheaply.
Roll your clothes.Nice and tight. It not only saves space but it also basically takes out wrinkles.

Now moving.Get boxes generally the same size and go on the smaller side. Makes them easier to move around and cuts down on the habit we are all in of over stuffing shit. Buy your boxes from UHaul or a licensed UHaul dealer. Simple fact they buy back anything you do not use. SO save your receipts.
