Yeah... He's wrong. Not surprising. Berns has bad NBA thoughts far more often than good ones. It's cute that he's just now realizing the Spurs might be the best team in the league.

Good Lord... Talent-wise they are about equal, but Pippen had a longer wingspan... Lebron is prolly quicker... Yet another unquantifiable argument brought by the greatest athlete/radio host to ever work in this city... maybe ever.

By "better, more versatile," I hope he means bigger because Pippen was a beast in his own right.

Bersnstein is such a smug little prick. Easily the guy I dislike the most on Chicago radio.

Pippen could grab, bump and hand-check. Great for the game of his era, but that was many years ago. Watch tape -- different ball.

It's worth mentioning that LeBron has never been the best individual defender in the league since he's been in.

Anyone else think Berns wears life vest over a leather jacket while walking around in water skis?

It is not really an outrageous opinion, is it?

I think he is wrong, Pippen was better, but they are at least close.

It would be fun to see Pippen in his prime guarding James.

When did I mention dpoy? That's almost always a big man's award.

Lebron has been regarded as one of the best defenders in the league for at least 3 yeas now... I don't remember anyone saying Pip was hands down the best in the league during his whole career... Like I said before, too close to call, and Lebron is in his 2nd prime with another decade to go.

I don't really think Pippen could guard LeBron but I bet Rodman could make him cry.

Pip would have a better chance defending Lebron because of the way Scottie could affect Lebron's passing... Rodman was. Abeast, but more of a post defender...

Well if you don't remember Pip's career just say that. He was widely regarded as the best defender in the league for the better part of the 90's.

LeBron is great defensively but he's never been better than Kobe until this year or last, and now he's still behind Tony Allen and Iguodala.

So why couldn't Pip guard Lebron

Only if the older guy was better.

The context here is solely defensively. By that criteria alone Pippen was better.

Too big, too strong. Even for the later career steroidal Pip.

Absolute horseshit opinions. I can't ever argue with you when you don't have facts straight... Don't remember pips career? What? I watched 100s of Bulls games in the 90s... So many... Pippen and Jordan were great together on defense (Jordan won 3 dpoy awards. Don't ever forget that)... Where is the other defensive stopper on Miami? Its not dwade.

I don't really think that's true. The Bulls played great team defense and Pippen was obviously the key guy in that but LeBron can guard every position on the floor from a super-quick little man like Rose to a powerful center. Pippen just couldn't do all of that. In fact, fast little guys were what gave the Bulls fits.

The only reason Dan says any of this shit is because LeBron is popular to hate, and Berns gets a hard on from stirring the pot.

But LeBron can't really guard 4's and 5's. That's a myth perpetuated by people not watching. Maybe the smaller guys but even a guy like LaMarcus Aldridge will have his way with LeBron in the post.

Tony Allen was 6th in Dpoy voting this year and the only non-forward/center in the top 12 you idiot.

Scorers always score no matter who is guarding them. The best defenders just make them work harder for it.
