I have admitted I love the guy but his reaction to the ump tossing the Sox pitcher and manager was waaayyyy overboard and very unprofessional.

No

He was being a commentator and giving his opinion.

You should be suspended.

Not so sure about that. The comments about post season and going back to school are pretty strong.

I think at some point MLB is gonna have something to say about Hawk.

I have to admit, I thought about this on the way to work this morning (after hearing the replay for the 33rd time on both stations).

He should not be suspended (either by the Sox or MLB), but I think it would be in everybody's best interest for MLB to place a call to Jerry (or Brooks or whoever oversees that part) and tell them to tell Hawk to cool it. He speaks on behalf of the team to more people than anyone else does on a regular basis - and he simply can't be screaming that Wegner is an AL umpire that knows "absolutely nothing about the game of baseball", among other things. If the Sox don;t mind the unprofessionalism, that's their choice, but to question the integrity and knowledge of the umpires in this fashion is bad for baseball.

Maybe you guys are right.

Its just that anytime a player or coach even mentions umpiring he gets suspended.

I know announcers have more leeway, but at some point its over the line.

You can't suspend him. He's clearly a DB for defending AJ spiking Ben though.

What would David Stern do if an announcer did that to one of his refs?

Kill him?

I hate the guy, but agree he should be suspended. You can criticize the call...you can't go on insulting the umpire multiple times. He is a joke announcer.

I agree with Hawk that umpires suck and I enjoy the stand he takes, but what he did yesterday was uncalled for.

So you think he was right, but also think he should lie on the next broadcast?

He was way over the line. It was a bad call. They happen.

What if an announcer said an umpire was on the take? How far away is Hawk from that when he insinuates certain umps have it in for the Sox?

C'mon man,He should give his opinion without sounding like he is foaming at the mouth. If they want that kind of response, just pull one of your basic "shit for brains" White Sox fans out of the stands.

The chances of Ken Harrelson getting suspended for his latest tirade at the expense of MLB umpire Mark Wegner yesterday during the WGN Sports' broadcast of the White Sox/Rays' game aren't that good. I heard Dan Bernstein mention this in the second segment of the "B & B Show", and all I heard Bernsy mention is that MLB doesn't like it when announcers rip into their umps. If Wegner gets disciplined, I don't think we'll know for sure. It's a dicey situation.

MLB doesn't like announcers talking bad, and we don't know if umps get punished. Yep, that's dicey alright...

This is the next best thing to happen to the Sox PR department next to a long winning streak. It puts the team on the front page and gets the meatball fans sufficiently interested to maybe attend a game. JR privately telling Hawk "don't stop now"

I'm too lazy to look for sure but I heard on one of the shows that umpires are disciplined and have been suspended in the past.

Hank, it's usually done behind the scenes, if you know what I mean...
