Maybe you guys are right.

Its just that anytime a player or coach even mentions umpiring he gets suspended.

I know announcers have more leeway, but at some point its over the line.

Maybe if MLB spent as much time caring about having umpires that are worth a shit as they do about fining people for pointing that out then we wouldn't have to worry about this issue

No. That is not normal baseball protocol. It just isn't.

I disagree. But I think the mistake was made when he didnt warn both teams after the Pierzynski HBP

I'm sure the Sox guy threw at him intentionally. I have no problem with an ump tossing a guy with no warning if he really believes it was on purpose. The old time baseball bullshit can fuck off. However it was even more obvious the Ray threw at AJ intentionally, and he wasn't ejected. 2 wrongs don't make a right, but in this case, 1 wrong and 1 right is less fair than 2 ejections or no ejections. In a hypothetical vacuum it's not a bad call, but it wasn't

He should not be suspended. But how many umps is he going to say "we have always had a problem with this guy"? anytime a bad call happens he says that, its getting old.
Also funny that they both admit he was "sending a message" to the batter but shocked he was accused of hitting him intentionally?

If anyone suspends Ken Harrelson, it won't be MLB "Commissioner" Allan H. Selig. It will be the team that signs Harrelson's checks, and that would be the White Sox. I doubt that happens.

He's said that about Wegner and Joe West, because they are terrible and everybody had problems with them. Hunter Wendelstedt and Ozzie didn't get along so that is why they had problems with him, not because of Hawk.

Funny how no Cubs fans here mention when Hawk compliments umpires-- something he has done quite often this season and at least twice that I heard in the Rays series-- yet they are among the first to post about Hawk saying something bad about an ump.

What does one have to do with the other? Saying an umpire does a nice job doesn't get you off the hook for having an on-air temper tantrum when they suck.

There are a lot of posters here that would lead you to believe that Hawk does nothing except sit silent or rant about umpires during every single game. Neither is true.

He reacted like a lot of fans would. "Did he throw him out? Are you fucking kidding me? What the fuck was that for? What a bullshit call!"

No doubt every Cubs and Sox fan around has had reactions like that. Hawk just gets to do it on the air. He's a Sox legend. If you take him for what he is, he's awesome. If you chose to label him wrong and nitpik, then you will hate him.

Why do you care so much about what other posters think of Hawk? Nevermind, I forgot you just post Sox/Cubs meatball fuel to be a dick.

I agree to a point Frank, but he is not just a random fan, he is supposed to be a professional. Harry was loved by a nation (not just cubs fans) but he was a bad announcer. Hawk would be fun to sit at a game with but as a supposedly major market announcer he is bad.

I'm not one of the delusional baseball fans on the board who think that Sox fans are more obsessed than the Cubs. I know its the other way around.

Hawk was so mad yesterday, I think he actually wanted to swear during the WGN Sports' broadcast of the White Sox/Rays' game. He didn't swear, but I bet WGN's CW9 & WGN America would have received phone calls from the FCC if Harrelson actually used one of those curse words.

That you even care about it either way lessens your argument.

Harry was a great announcer until those post-stroke years with the Cub.

Man you are such a blind defender.

Almost everyone here Cub and Sox fans alike agree it was overboard.

And yeah, Hawk complimented the umps during the winning streak. That doesnt make up for the bitching he does on a regular basis and even if it did, why would someone post that?

Thats not interesting. Hawk went crazy, that IS interesting.

Joe West is bad. I havent heard of any non White Sox problems with Wegner? Do you have some instances with other teams?

"All Cubs fans, especially those that post here" would say Hawk's been a stroke for years.

Everytime you say this, it gets funnier.

Decades of Cub hate being a pre requisite for Sox fandom does not get undone by a few posts on a message board by BigFan

The fuckin SS Irish song has a lyric about it!

I grew up on the south side. The large majority of Sox fans are big time Cub haters.

Its not the other way around, no matter how much BigFan and you bicker.

Its just not.

Hating the Cubs is part of Sox fandom. You are a prime example of it. Embrace it.

Hawk Harrelson's disdain for Joe West is very well known. I don't know of any other White Sox issues with Mark Wegner.

Right.

The South Side Irish song doesnt include those lyrics and Sox fans dont proudly list hating the Cubs as part of being a Sox fan.

Me and everyone else in the world hallucinated that.

You are really dillusional if you believe that.

I dont think you do. You're just trolling.
