He was. I just think his battery goes dead a lot quicker than it used to.

bitchiest show ever

He doesn't even know the real economics of this recession/slump but acts like he does. No Olympics, no global events, no more spending.

You know he's a real cheap pseudointellectual when he argued several months back that the health of the stock market indicated that the economy was roaring back.

Tall Midget is ok, we would have our beefs every now and then. I especially enjoyed that he didn't like 10 Foot Midget, even though they are both cut from the same cloth.

White Sox: Bad at baseball... just... bad. (But go out and see them anyway!)

Cubs: Bad at baseball. With a purpose.

No one said the Cubs' rebuilding was going to be easy. It's going to take many years for that franchise to become a legit contender the way Theo Epstein & Jed Hoyer picture the Cubs. Will fans be patient enough and cope with all the losses now?

As for the White Sox, they may have won 8 in a row coming home to host the Mariners, Blue Jays & Astros over the next week to 10 days, but guess what? I think there's still a degree of skeptism how good or how bad at baseball the Sox really are. The SCORE guys can give away all the Sox tickets they want, but let's not forget the team that's now a game and a half out of first, the Indians, haven't exactly filled Progressive Field in Cleveland either.

Tall Midget is about 100 IQ points smarter than Ten Foot Midget.

Tall Midget was great. I know he and OKC didn't get along but that mostly had to do with the fact they hated each other.

Ten Foot Midget sucks.

"Tall" was no less of an asswipe than "Ten Foot" though.

But his analysis of Theo's plan is based on SABER metrics. Epstein has reminded people that statiscal analysis is used to complement scouting in order to be more objective, but all decisions aren't going to just on statistical projections. Sadly, Bernstein only grasps the SABER part of it.

When Bernsy goes into the MLB Sabermetrics, the wins above replacement players, etc., I don't think listeners really understand the numbers inside the game. It tends to be a turn off.

I'm gonna give SHARK credit for referring to Progressive Field correctly as opposed to another one of his stupid ass pet names.

. The idea is that the NATO Summit would attract investment and affirm Chicago's global status. The returns are thought to be long term, you can't just take ( Cost of NATO - tourist money during NATO).

I don't think it's a we feel the city needs to prove something. It would just be cool to have the biggest sports event in the country in the city for a week. Not sure why everything needs to have this big grandiose meaning in Dan's world. It would be cool, that's really all.

Chicago does need to work harder than cities like NYC.

Most people around the world don't know much as much about Chicago. It's not like were London, Rio, or Tokyo.

But aren't global cities supposed to be the site of global events?

Yeah I don't get their argument. The fact that it's a world class city is a reason why many people want to have huge events there. I don't think it comes from an inferiority feeling.

It means not everyone is sold on the White Sox, and an 8-game win streak might not be good enough to get Joe Fan to the ballpark starting tomorrow.

They literally are saying that it's weird that everyone agrees with them and how unique that is, but then spending 20 minutes arguing with apparently no one one. Just making up viewpoints that these non existent people might have and screaming them down.

It's really awful radio.

While it's close, Chicago probably doesn't qualify as a world class city. NYC may be the only one in the entire country.

What is there in Chicago that every person around the world would want to see at least once? I have answers for pretty much every other city that makes my "World Class" city list.

Chicago is clearly the closest besides NYC, even over Los Angeles, but I'm not convinced that some guy in Austria is saying that he must visit Chicago at some point in his life.

Wikipedia doesn't seem to agree with me. Chicago ends up really high on most lists.

It's more than just winning. The Cubs don't win and people enjoy the experience. It isn't my job as a fan to figure out how to fill U.S. Cellular Field. I have some ideas though.

I'm going to go to about 30 games this season and pay for every ticket. I'll probably spend about $50 average each time in the park. The White Sox don't even know who I am. How many guys do you think go to more games than that? 1000? Maybe less.

Everyone wants to go to the playoff games. The Sox can take the bernstein attitude that "Too bad. Get a better job so you can afford it." That's their right. I have no problem with it. But where are all those people that snap up the playoff and World Series tickets? Do you think they're coming to see the Royals on a rainy night in April? Go scold them and leave the working man who does his best to take his kids to a couple games a season alone rather than making him feel guilty for not going more.
