Today, B&B and the braintrust tryig to figure why the NFL did not give , or consider, Chicago for a Superbowl location when the recent NEW Soldier Field was unvieled.

Well, the NFL provided the Bears with a $100 mill loan, which burned off at a rate of $10 mill per year, as long as the McClaskeys owned the team. From I was told, this was a loan they did not have to pay payback!

However, the Bears did bare the cost over runs on the project and they put in $200 mill on a project they share with everyone else the CPD can fit into the place.

The NFL will have to go through the Chicago Park District if they want the Super Bowl at Soldier Field. Not happening. St. Louis will get one first. Didn't Indy just host? Detroit was 5 years ago?

Honest to god, why the fuck does it matter if there is a roof over the SuperBowl? Goodell needs to realize that football is a MAN's game, needs to be played OUTDOORS, in the ELEMENTS.

The grass won't be a problem if the NFL agrees to have a Super Bowl here.

Easy and obvious solution. The NFL would make the Bears switch to Field Turf that year. No way they would agree to play on Soldier Field February grass for a Super Bowl. Who knows. Maybe the Bears would finally agree to just have field turf by then. But it won't be on grass if a Super Bowl comes here. C'mon. You guys should have figured this out.

Since there is 2 weeks before a Super Bowl, they could put the field turf in at that point if the Bears want to keep their grass for the regular season. Or, if the Bears are out of the playoffs that year, they could do it in early January. NFL would pay for it and the switch back to sod in the spring if the Bears don't want to keep it. Don't worry, McCaskeys, you won't be on the hook for that bill.

Terry said yesterday that Tagliabue took San Diego out of the rotation, but never really said why. I would love to see the Super Bowl played at the Rose Bowl every year.

The smallest stadium in the NFL is never gonna get a Super Bowl plain and simple.

Its dumb to ever have the Super Bowl in a cold weather site. It should always be in Florida, California, Arizona, or New Orleans. Even if a cold weather site has a dome, the fans wanting to go enjoy the week leading up to the game don't want to be trudging around in the snow. Had Chicago gotten a domed stadium with more seats, I'm sure they would be considered. But as much fun as it might be to the local fans, most of the people going to the game (and especially all the weeklong activities leading up to the game) would probably much prefer a warmer location.

Pretty much agreed, but then again look at how well Indianapolis did. It's not exactly a sure thing about their weather but it made a hell of a case for the midwest having a SB game. Regardless of that, Soldier Field is what it is, and "SB hosting facility" is not exactly that.

The unusually mild weather we had last winter helped Indy do well. Plus it is a compact area so not a lot of walking around and waiting for cabs.
