I know we have a ton of musicians on the board and just curious as to what inspired everyone to pick up their instrument?

For me, it was Dave Matthews solo performance of 'The Stone' on Charlie Rose.

Let's see...I was 11. So, it probably had to do more with Hit Parader, Circus, and "looking cool" than actual music...and then I got my hands on the Master of Puppets cassette tape.

Yeah, my folks wanted me to play piano. So they "forced" me to take lessons on playing/composition/reading piano music. I was actually pretty good seeing as I started in the 2 or 3rd grade. I stopped playing in 8th grade....I really wish I hadn't.

I remember my first recital. I forgot my music so I had to play from memory. I did, did it really well and then my music teacher had a stroke in the front row.

Nobody forced me into anything. My Dad plays guitar, bass, and little bit of piano. In 8th grade I asked him to show me a few things on the bass and that was that.

My friend Eric played drums in a band. I learned a little from him and got my own cheap set....a combo of a used Tama and Premier with Paiste cymbals....still have pretty much the same set.
