After going down 2-0 in the series and having "experts" express how they may collapse after wasting an historical effort by Rondo in game 2, only to lose, now they are just a game short of the NBA Championship round. It's been a great run by the Celtics, may it continue in game 6 in Boston so Wade, LeBron and Co. can watch the finals from home.

Lets hold off on shoutouts until they actually put the Heat on the boat fishing for the year.

both series go 2-2, with all teams holding serve on home court through the first 4 games.

expectations are the home teams win game 5 and then everyone loses some interest as things appear to be playing out according to the time-honored NBA script of the team with home court advantage overall winning the series, either in 6 or 7 games.

both game 5's are not only won by the road team, but they both win 3 in a row--very rare in NBA playoffs.

Now the expectation is that OKC wins in 6 and the Celts finish off the Heat at home in 6.

what better way to increase the interest in the series than have the road teams--down 3-2--force game 7's.

Dont be so sensitive. I'm as happy as you are(probably even more) about tonight's outcome, I just find it funny that y'all acted like OKC won the trophy last night but tonight it's "Let's wait guys, Boston hasn't accomplished anything yet". Why the difference?

Because the Spurs are older and it's easy to suggest that the Spurs have already waved the white towel.

The Celtics on the other hand are the crafty veteran team on it's last legs, throwing that last haymaker to the young hotshot opponent.

For me it is because I am not as emotionally attached to the OKC/Spurs series, it has been fun to watch and a lot of real good basketball, but it does not matter to me who ultimately wins. With the Heat/Celtics I just really want the Heat to lose, and I refuse to think about them getting knocked out of the playoffs until it actually happens.

Hypothetically speaking (obviously), although he never got out of the first round, I think if 2002 Tracy McGrady were on this Miami team instead of Lebron, Miami would've won in 5.

You sound like a Sox fan RFDC, but I agree.

Miami losing is the best outcome left after the Bulls elimination, and I don't want to get my hopes up.

I don't assume the Celtics will win this series. I still can easily see a scenario in which the Heat win game 6 & then 7. My shoutout was for the great effort and will the Celtics have shown since going down 2-0 in the series and wasting the great game by Rondo in game 2. I think a lot of very good teams might have lost in 4 or 5 games under the same cicumstances. The fact that this is a good team in perhaps it's last season as a group, makes me want to see them prevail, almost as much as I just want the Heat to lose. But there certainly remains some work to do before that celebration may commence.

I'm not saying I necessarily believe the Spurs have thrown in the towel, but I could see based on last night's game how it may look that way to some people.

I'm not sure how anyone can see it that way. It's pretty the obvious the Thunder are on the verge of breaking through that playoff barrier that separates the good from the great. I just hope the Spurs can push them back one more season. The Spurs definitely didn't quit. They ran up against Serge having a historical game and Durant having a historical 6 minutes in Game 4 and fought back hard yesterday to almost cause a big Thunder collapse, then Harden hits the killer 3.

I just think its ridiculous as hell to imply the Spurs have given up but Miami is still dangerous. It just isn't playing out like that so that's a false narrative for anyone to try to sell.

Damn straight.

Although if the Spurs are eliminated I'm guaranteed to at least get two more games of RondoBall still so I won't be too depressed.

Not buying your conspiracy theory. The Bulls won a few of their Championships in 6 games and it's actually unusual for the finals to go 7. I will not be surprised if Miami forces a game 7. But I will not be at all surprised if the Celtics finish them off in game 6. I think thats the more likely scenario if Boston is to win the series. I believe the Celtics know that if they drop game 6 on their home court, winning a game 7 in Miami is gonna be a very tough task. I expect the Celtics to therefore match the energy and intensity the Heat will bring to game 6 and "if the good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise"...
