check it out if your a fan. better than anything they've done since the late 60s. of course that's not saying much.

Who participated in this album? Is it all the remaining original guys or is it Mike Love and a dozen scabs.

He should re-name it to this.

This reminds me of a Dahl & Meier show when they had Joe Walsh on. They were talking about the Beach Boys, and Joe says as only Joe Walsh can, "They shudda named him Mike Hate."

I guess Mike Love carries some resentments from the whole Beach Boy gig.

There's nothing quite like a person who gets famous because of their relatives and then sues them. Brian Wilson wrote just about every Beach Boys hit song other than Kokomo and Mike Love sued to have his live performances be the only ones that could use the "Beach Boys" official name.

Umm, yeah, except he went after Jardine for calling his entourage, "Beach Boy Family & Friends," which mostly comprised of his sons and Brian's daughters. Same daughters who are 2/3s of Wilson Phillips... The argument was, he paid for the right to use the name. Flipside is, he didn't want "girls" performing as Beach Boys. Don't get me wrong, he did have a leg to argue, but he's also still a raging asshole.

Best thing for Love is to go forth after the anniversary tour, and continue with his oldie tour with Bruce and the scabs...

well, two of the original five are dead, so they are not on the new album.

the other three: mike, brian, and al are. somehow the lure of $$ was enough to get them to work together.

nice to see something other than an embarrassment as their career capstone.

In my fifties and I'm proud to say I never owned a Beach Boys or Led Zepplin Album.
After listening to snippets of the new BB album on ITunes, the streak continues

Or "Smile", which they released as a studio session album. "Endless Summer" was out when I was in college. All I can tell you is, you could hear album playing throughout the dorms.

Beach Boys and the Beatles were having a competition of sorts, of raising the bar.

Kokomo is such a fucking embarassment I'm surprised Brian Wilson is even willing to perform it.

Whyever not? He didn't write it, and everyone knows that. And he can stick his tongue out at mLove.

Although, it *was* written by John Phillips of Mamas & Papas fame. So it has pedigree.

'That's Why..' is a retread with new lyrics. WTF, do I mind their making some final hurrah bread? Hell, no. Name me a band you'd imagine would sound better on their 50th anniversary
