Dan sure is filled with wide-eyed wonder with everything the NFL does. "They change the rules every year and people don't mind! Incredible!" Usually that's because casual fans didn't know what the original rule was in the first place.

Case in point: the wedge rule.

The stories about class rank and hypercompetition and Student-of-the-Year-based catatonia are really nice. Something is wrong with all these kids being so great. They can't all really be that great.

Keep it.

I think he just meant that rooting for the Heat to win would be a better/more compelling matchup in the Finals.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a Thunder-Celtics final either. They make it seem like Boston's that mid-major who cracked the Final Four, thereby making the Finals not watchable.

Yes, Boston's old and yes they're obviously not as good as they were in 2008 or 2010. But as a neutral observer (which is what they claim to be), is there really a huge difference between watching an efficient team that can actually run some sort of an offense? Or is it just about LeBron and Wade? Basketball fans are going to watch no matter what, and I'd bet that neutral observers will still be highly interested in a Durant-Westbrook vs Rondo-KG-Pierce final.

The bottom line is that the winner of a 7 game series has proven that they're the better team, right Dan? I thought the NBA was so great because the best team always won at the end of the year. Hmm.

I don't know if it's intentional, in fact doubt it, but the Southwest commercial stating their pilots "are going everywhere-literally" directly after a crap for Schuster's penchant for misusing that same word was spot on timing.

Am I the only one who thinks "Who You Crappin'" is a PTFB segment? I just don't find it interesting
to hear callers read on the phone, trying to sound like Bernstein, or Bernstein reading caller's craps who
are trying to sound like Bernstein.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned :alien:

There has to be a line somewhere that separates the semi-serious from the weak humor. For a while I tried to follow along with the PSU angle they presented, granting an allowance for how boringly repetitive they had become while selectively looking at information. But after several days of intensive PSU coverage they would either try to go comedic or make trivializing fun of what actually transpired. For many, their proclamations that their show will focus on PSU is the forewarning to PTFB. I've tried to ride it out with them but between the secret expert sources that are quoted by Dan and the selective understandings and interpretation of the law (Dan's last blog), and the just idiotic attempts at humor I find myself just tuning out.

Perhaps its because 10 minutes of a TruTV "In Session" brings me up to speed without the histrionics, and their desire to get the facts straight undermines what takes up multiple half-hour chunks of the radio show. IMHO, getting it wrong is worse than not getting it at all. They could be funny if Dan didn't take himself so seriously but at this point they certainly aren't to be taken seriously.

This is exactly my problem with their obsessive "coverage" of Penn State. It shifts, seemingly at li'l danny's whim, from hard-hitting serious news that dare not be joked about to him sing-songing about how Sandusky is going to go free and he'll win a fucking dinner bet. When they're serious about it, it sounds like scolding. When they're joking, it comes off as distasteful. They should just let the update guys report the facts of the trial and get back to kissing LeBron's ass or talking about how we need poor people so danny can get his Sunday football fix and swear at his television as the American underclass beats each other's brains out.

And all this time they (Bernstine, Boers & Goff) have been perpetrating they know and like basketball. Their attitude, analysis, and approach are barely above reading box scores and watching dunk highlights. True enlightened fans want to see a good matchup featuring two good teams that exhibit sound team play. The desire to see great players with selfish tendencies plays to the playground-video game/highlghts crowd who roar along with players who make uncontested mid-second quarter dunks. Bemoaning a lack of James and the Heat is along those same lines. NBA history is filled with great talents who didn't necessarily play a great game, and great teams that didn't necessarily have great and dominant talents.

If Bernsie was around back in the day George Gervin would be "his guy". Later on Dominique. All the talent in the world. What did that get them?

I don't think Dominique Wilkins is a fair comparison to LeBron James, who is probably the best pure athlete of his generation. A better analogue to Nique would be Carmelo Anthony, who delivers highlight-reel play without it ever amounting to anything of consequence. I don't think we've yet seen anyone with such a disparity between talent and killer instinct.

Well, look on the bright side. ABC bosses are relieved that the NBA Finals won't have the Spurs come Tuesday night when they tip.

You're creating the imagery of a bunch of guys in suits sitting around a boardroom during a working meal, clasping their hands together, nervously sticking thumbtacks in a board, wiping the sweat from their brows as they anxiously anticipated the outcome of the Thunder/Spurs matchup.

YOU cared more than ABC about ABC's level of interest in the Finals matchup. And I guess to some degree, I care too much about how much you care about it...but I just can't help it because it's just such a stupid thing for you to keep repeating over and over. And I'm stupid for being angry enough to engage every single time.

I need Peeps right now to calm me the fuck down.

I enjoyed the Terry's Food network show idea "Im not really hungry.... I dont know...Feel kinda....ya know some guys they wanna say This is the taste I have and this is what....well, No, No not really..."

I also enjoyed the college discussion yesterday.

They are entertaining and they can be fun. Dan is just too full of affectations. He should let his defenses down.
