I don't know why any sane person would read his Twitter tonight or listen to Boers and Bernstein tomorrow.

This has been a letdown on a few levels. Obviously I wanted Boston to win, but damn man...I wanted an entertaining game too. This provided neither. Waste of time.

I'll give you that.

This is one of those, "I'm responding to being called out" games.

Remember in '97 when Jeff Van Gundy was coaching the Knicks and he called out Jordan? Called him a con-man. Jordan responded by dropping like 51 on them and talking shit to Van Gundy all game. That's a superstar game. That's what we're seeing right now. We're seeing a guy prove a point.

People look at "clutch" as making buzzer-beater shots, but there's so much more to it than that. This may be a blowout, but this is a clutch performance tonight. They're facing elimination and the star decides to be the star in order to keep his team's hopes alive. That's clutch. I gotta give Lebron credit.

Doesn't he have to win game 7 (or maybe win it all) too for it to be that "clutch"? There have been a lot of players that had big games when they were hyped up that never won a damn thing in the big picture.

I'm not saying anything beyond tonight or anything about his legacy as a player or any of that. I'm just giving credit where it's due. He needed to come through big tonight and he did. It's a clutch performance. Even if it only lasts one game, it still is what it is.

Exactly. He has to win game 7 or else the heroics of this game mean nothing.

I get it. I thought you were giving him credit for being "clutch" overall because of tonight. You're right, big performance tonight.

Jordan followed his thrashing of Van Gundy with (another) title. And made him like it. 8)

Well god damn if that isn't a dominant playoff performance. The Celtics looked old as hell.

That's pretty much what I was saying Kid. Not to go all Bernstein but tonight we saw a once in a generation talent play one of the biggest games of his career. And the great thing is he absolutely needed to. The Heat needed a HoF performance and they got one.

This post was great until that last sentence.

Big performance. Great talent. Team needed it.

This means nothing for a HoF without a title.

Heat and Thunder in the Finals.

I don't know what you mean. LeBron is a first ballot HoF'er regardless of this performance or if he ever wins a title.

Yup.

ABC bosses won't be happy unless either the Lakers or the Celtics are in the Finals. So they're pretty much jumping out of hundred-story buildings right now. Literally...

It's hardly like he dropped 63 on the Bird Celtics.

I think Boston rebounds and LeBron pulls a disappearing act. Wade doesn't have enough....I think the C's win a close one.

Weak comparison. Jordan and the Bulls lost that game.

They are thinking of moving the Finals to tape delay and airing "Last Man Standing" marathons instead to improve ratings.

Kid I thought you knew this Boston team well enough by now not to write them off. Everytime you think they will win they lose and Everytime you think they are done they come back and win. I think Game 7 will be close.

You're right. I should've known better. I thought just for once, maybe they might just give themselves a breather by putting the dagger in somebody, but nope. Maybe this Boston team just inherently needs to be backed into a corner. Kinda weird but it seems to be the only time they respond.

It was a better performance by far. Jordan had very little supporting cast (Paxson was the only player from any of the championship teams) going up against the Celtics who had Bird, Mchale and Parrish. LeBron has Wade and Bosh to support him and he was going up against an aging Celtics team.

I agree. I was just mocking SHARK's argument. I don't actually believe that Lakers/Celtics theory.

Lebron answers the bell. Nice.

Gotta finish though.

Good post about clutch being different things Cairo. That's true. The problem with LeBron though is he way too often passes up on the chance to take a game winner. Hard to hit a buzzer beater with a pass to Udonis Haslem

You're a moron.

Yes...Jordan scored 63 points against the eventual NBA Champions in a playoff game. However, that performance was inconsequential to the outcome of the series. The Bulls weren't facing elimination in that game. The Bulls still lost the game. The Bulls still got swept in the series. DIFFERENT SITUATION.

In contrast, last night's game was a game where Lebron's team was facing elimination, and Lebron turned in a great performance when needed. You can't even compare the two because it's apples to oranges....you goof.
