Has there been any better time in a Sox season over the past decade than interleague baseball? It seems to be the ime they have made their move for the playoffs or at least given fans a little hope. I'm looking for them to destroy the Astros this weekend and follow up with the same against the Cards.

Interleague play has basically made the Sox season the past decade. Without it, they wouldn't be in the division race most years. They are an interleague juggernaut.

I think the Yankees have a slightly better win% than the Sox, but that is overall. Since about 2004, the Sox have destroyed the NL most years. They have a couple of tougher teams this year with the Cards and Dodgers, but they should win at least 7 of the 9 games against the Astros, Brewers, and Cubs.

This weekend should be a sweep, but with fuckhead 1 and 2 pitching with Sale in between I will be content (and surprised) with 2 out of 3. If Humber struggles again, he needs to go down to the minors and unfuck himself. I don't know why the Great Don Cooper can't fix this kid, maybe he (Coop) isn't all that after all.

Danks should be able to come back with Quintana pitching well and only leave us with relying on Floyd to get lucky and win once and awhile.

I feel pretty comfortable with Quintana, Sale, Peaves, Danks and Floyd chucking for the Sox.

Lefty Wandy Rodriguez starts the weekend series for Houston this eve vs. the hard-to-figure Gavin Floyd for the White Sox. The paper thin Chris Sale faces Astros' righty Jordan Lyles Saturday afternoon, and the less than perfect Phil Humber toes the rubber vs. ex-Sox pitcher Lucas Harrell Sunday afternoon.

When the White Sox head to St. Louis Tuesday night, whitesox.com has lefty Jose Quintana starting the first of 3 vs. the World Champion Cardinals.

If memory serves me correct, and it often doesn't, this is when Floyd usually goes on a string of good starts until about mid august

You are correct, GD. Gavin Floyd is supposed to resemble a good MLB pitcher these next 3 months.

The lineup is in for the first of 3 with the Astros. Along with their batting average right next to it, here's the 9 that will deal with Houston lefty Wandy Rodriguez:

30 Alejandro De Aza CF (L) .296
15 Gordon Beckham 2B (R) .229
32 Adam Dunn DH (L) .215
14 Paul Konerko 1B (R) .371
51 Alex Rios RF (R) .293
12 Anthony John Pierzynski C (L) .297
24 Dayan Viciedo LF (R) .265
10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R) .213
5 Orlando Hudson 3B (S) .188

The much-maligned Gavin Floyd does the chucking for the White Sox in the first of this Interleague series.

Farmio is out of his goddamn mind. Last inning he said Wandy Rodriguez has to have 2005 on his mind when he faces Konerko now because of the slam in Game 2.

One problem is he hit it off Chad Qualls.

DJ rightly laughed off such a ludicrous suggestion.

Can someone find out where Sox pitching ranks with homers allowed? It seems these fuckers give up homers like nobody's business.

They rank 6th in HR allowed behind Minnesota, Houston, Seattle, Toronto, and the Yankees.

How does Farmio not remember that? That's the only reason I have to know the name Chad Qualls.

Not worried about Sale but Humber has to come through on Sunday. They should not lose to these fuckers.

About the Sox....hell yes

5 tool can't miss prospect Kenneth Williams
Sauced Coop
Methed out Gamboa attacking Sox Nation

No one other than Sox fans give a shit about the Sox regardless of their record or what they win and that will never change.

So?

Is that an important part of being a Cub fan, that people other than Cub fans care about them?

Personally I don't give a shit if anyone pays attention to the Sox besides the 1M Sox fans.

Yeah, this is going to put them in a bind... you can't let Sale pitch a full 200 inning season, so you are going to have to shut it down at some point. They need to avoid turning him into Prior. Yet, he is your most effective starter, and with any mediocre run support (3 or more runs) you anticipate winning while he's on the bump. I'd love to see the Sox get up by 6 or 7 games at the All-Star break where it is easy to shut him down, but if you're in a situation where you are within 1 or 2 games, that's tough to do. I hope they have the foresight to see the potential you have in this kid over the next 10+ years. Maybe they can move him to an every other turn starter... I'd love to have him in the playoffs, but I also don't want to see him jump into the 230-250 range of IP over a year after never having made it to 100 previously.

Agree with Terry's Peeps -- who cares what other people think. I like the Arizona Cardinals and the fact that nearly every other person alive could give two shits doesn't bother me.

Keyser, what is your opinion on what they do with Sale? Do they let him go the whole season or do they limit him and shut him down at some point?

I think they continue to pitch him, but try to avoid the high pitch count games. If he's as fragile as some believe, he's going to break down at some point. Shutting him down will only delay the inevitable.
