Wow did Purdue get screwed. Kentucky should have hosted a regional but instead the committee went with an undeserving Miami team and made Kentucky a #2 seed and sent them to Purdue's regional. Tough break for the Boilers.

Your Hogs didn't get a very good draw either Hawger having to go to Rice. Sam Houston St. is no push over either.

Louisville got screwed as a #3 seed in the Arizona regional. New Mexico St is a tough first game.

Michigan St made it as an at-large bid. That's rare for a Big 10 team.

Texas did not make the tourney.

When is the last time Texas did not make a tourney?

The last time they missed the tourney was 1998. I would have guessed it was longer than that but I'm sure the misses are few and far between.

Did MSU deserve the at-large birth, or did they just throw a bone to the Big Ten after a bunch of coaches have been bitching about how scheduling is handled?

They didn't deserve an at-large bid. They did have a high RPI from playing a tough non-conference schedule but they finished 5th in a weak Big 10. The committee said they were the 2nd best team in the region. That may be so but they could have brought in a more deserving team from a stronger region like Wake Forest.

You follow this much, much closer to me. Do you think the MSU bid was just garden variety committee stupidity, or were there ulterior motives there?

Maybe they gave the benefit of the doubt to a Northern school that is legitimately trying to build a program but I don't think they went out of their way because of the threats of the Big 10 to leave the NCAA tournament. I really can't imagine the NCAA opening a can of worms like that when college baseball is starting to generate some money.

The road to Omaha is flat and boring, just like the College World Series.

Don't worry, it's not like you have to pass through the state of Arkansas on the Road To Omaha.

Now, that is disappointing.

It stunned me when the drive actually wasn't that bad. Going to SIU, or down to say Louisville is much, much worse.

And (if you have $, prices get jacked up) Omaha @CWS time is a blast.

Hogs won a tight one in the first game 5-4, play Rice at 6:00.

Kent st and Kentucky in the 21st inning  . Would have to think both these teams will be decimated pitching wise after this.

Kent St comes back from that 21 ining marathon to beat Purdue. Purdue plays Kentucky tomorrow in an elimination game.

Ryne Stanek stepped up big time for your Boys, Hawger. 1-0 win over Rice puts your Hogs in the catbird seat.

Hogs are looking really good, as their pitching has been ridiculous the last 2 days. If they win, I am really hoping Baylor loses, Arkansas would get to host the Super Regionals.

The No #1's are dropping like flies. Miami, Purdue, Texas A&M, Rice have all been eliminated and North Carolina and Virginia are both losing elimination games. It's wide open, Hawger.

It is awesome, I just wish more of the games were on tv. Looks like Baylor is going to win, but if the Hogs can score just a few runs, I like their chances.

For the first time in my life I can say I am a HUGE Dallas Baptist fan tonight. :D

Well Dallas Baptist couldn't get the job done and now Arkansas is on their way to Baylor for the super regionals. That's ok, Hawger. If your Boys pitch like they did in the regionals it doesn't matter where or who they play. It would be nice if the offense could make it a little easier by putting a few runs on the board.

My picks. Bad

Arizona is the first team to punch their ticket to Omaha.

LSU is in a real dog fight with Stoney Brook.

Mark Appel got his brains beatin in by Florida St.

Arkansas made a questionable call starting Baxendale in game 1.

UCLA punched their ticket to Omaha.

Florida punched their ticket to Omaha with an extra ining win against North Carolina St.

Arkansas tied up Baylor in the bottom of the 9th and still have the bases loaded with 1 out trying to keep their hopes alive. This is great stuff.

Baylor brought in a new pitcher and he plunked the first batter for the game winning HBP. Hawger's Hogs live to fight another day.
