He's playing very well, but I doubt he makes the team. White Sox will have 2, maybe 3, all-stars the way it's going - Chris Sale, Jake Peavy, Paul Konerko are the guys who will be considered. Dunn is an outside candidate because of the HR's.

Keyser Soze thinks he should be backing up Lillibridge so I highly doubt he's an All-Star.

Defense isn't valued in all-star games so he should be a lock.

Hamilton and Granderson are probably locks... Buatista or Nelson Cruz will likely be voted the other starter.

Reddick is probably the only viable Oakland option. Adam Jones probably should be there.

If they take 6 OF, that leaves a crowded field of the likes of Ichiro, Francoeur, Joyce, et. al. for De Aza to contend with. Assuming Konerko makes it, I don't think the coaches would feel any particular reason to add any White Sox.

As Frank explained to some of us, it's definitely not just Dunn's HRs that should keep him in consideration. Though his average has fallen down to .220-.230 if I'm not mistaken hes still slugging the ball well and has a very high OPS. Is it still on pace for a career high? From what I can tell I think Frank is right and Dunn is having a very decent season.

His OPS should also help him, but I'm going off the assumption that the managers picking the teams, outside of ensuring that every team has 1 player, probably isn't spending much time digging into the numbers outside of the major ones. If Dunn has 25 HR at the all-star break, that's going to be pretty hard to deny, unless his average is down to near .200.

Both things will probably be true and he likely won't make it. Konerko has to be a lock. Sale is likely to be starting the game. And Pierzynski has a good shot to make it. Beyond that, I think any White Sox are unlikely. But who knows? Guys always start dropping out for various reasons and there are a lot of guys on the teams these days.

I don't know. What do you think? He could make it for sure. It seems that recently they go very heavy on relievers though.

I think he has 2, maybe 3 starts left before the ASG.

As long as he doesn't get shelled I think he's in.

I tend to agree that he won't be there also, he's just a name in the discussion. If another people back out, then he becomes a viable option.

At this point, I think Sale and Konerko are pretty much given's, and a few guys will be candidates (Peavy, and Dunn specifically).

AJ absolutely has to be a candidate, and possibly a lock as they need more than 1 catcher. Among AL catchers, he is 2nd in HRs, 1st in OPS, 2nd in hits (behind only Joe Mauer who is playing some at 1B), 3rd in runs, and leads MLB in RBI among catchers.

Alejandro De Aza has been real good in the leadoff spot for the White Sox and has played a steady centerfield. Unfortunately for De Aza, he won't make the AL All-Star team because there are a glut of better outfielders ahead of him and it's clearly a numbers game, especially for the guy in charge of the AL All-Stars, Rangers' manager Ron Washington.

I know he wont make it but its nice to see he's pretty close to being considered. I'm pleasantly surprised. He's a grinder! Best lead off hitter on Sox since......

Rudy Law? Tony Phillips? Sammy Sosa?

Am I missing someone thats obvious? Raines maybe? Ralph Garr?

Scotty Pods???? I think he wins just for this reason. Hello there Mrs. Pods
