IMHO, film and TV are different animals. This topic really gets me because of the nature of these complaint calls. If you don't want to hear people talk about what's going in the world, including television programs, why listen to talk radio? Puzzling.

Just to clarify. I believe I fall into that age group the caller referenced. However, I watch on Sunday night at 8:00 central like the rest of the world. So, I'm with Mac on this.
The people who are complaining are likely doing so because they are watching Desperate Housewives with their significant other. Here's a bulletin for those kids. Desperate Housewives sucks. Tivo that garbage.

It's called cooler talk right? What happens with poeple in offices around the world? Do they run around with ear muffs on until you watch the show.
I didn't read into The Office forum until I watched it. It's not too hard to turn the channel.

I'm one of the ones that will watch Soprano's at a later date and time than the original airing date. But I do this knowing full well that it may be discussed on radio and television (or even the newspaper). I really don't have too much of a problem with it. In fact, every Monday I check out the recap on msn.com even though it may be days (or weeks) before I actually get to watch the show. I do this for many shows, not just the Soprano's.

I still haven't watch Superbowl XLI . I have yet to figure out my DVR . So, no one tell me who wins as I'm going to watch it sometime in the near future.

a movie is also a heck of a lot more expensive to go see.....

lets do a little fun math here.....,

1 movie, 2 hrs, 8 buck, $4.00 per hour.....

cable bill, 40 per month (assuming you have hbo package).

24 hrs in a day, 30 days in a month (average i guess) = 720 hrs a month. lets say 70 channels in an hbo cable package, so 720 x 70 = 50,400 hrs of programming you are paying for. So 50,400 hrs @ $40 = .0007 per hour of programming.....

so an hr of tv is worth $0.0007 to someone, where a hr of a movie is worth $4..... i can see how people can ge more upset about someone runing a movie as it is more valuable to their pocket books.......

Sure, but aside from the financial aspect of movies vs television you also need to consider the time and commitment of watching a series like the Sopranos, and with the final few episodes left now I think it's a dick move to spoil an episode less than 24 hours after its initial airing. Is this what was done on MJH? If so, did they give any warning? I don't have a problem with them talking about it but think they should at least wait a day or two considering...

I don't care if people discuss a show like Sopranos the next day as long as the give a warning and do not spring the plot on people out of the blue like Waddle did last week. Also I feel HBO is differant than nbc, abc etc. They replay Sopranos about 5 times a week knowing very well that people will tune into a time that is more convenient to them. IMO, you should not discuss a show like Sopranos for a week. When a new episode comes out the following week then the previous week is fair game.

that's fair.
it's one thing to say "did you watch the soprano's last night?"

vs.

"so, christopher got whacked last night! how crazy was that?"

I completely agree with Mac.

The Sopranos is different than a movie premiere for the following:

The Sopranos premieres at a set time, on a specific day.

A movie premieres usually at the end of the business week, at multiple locations with multiple times. It usually consists of one storyline. Therefore, there should be a limit as to how much info is shared because once you know what happens, game over!

With the Sopranos, its continual, if you missed the episode, you have opportunities to catch It throughout the week. But that doesn't mean everyone else who did see it when it was broadcast should have to wait.

these are the facts and they cannot be disputed!

:x

I guess the question is this: What's the longest that anyone of us has taped/Tivo-ed a show and taken to watch it? Hell, third shift workers seem to know that at 7am the next morning the zoo crew types and media reporters columns are now in the public air(waves), so either watch it asap, or turn off every outlet before your shift end, or just take it...

I dare say that if Ms. Maxfield or Larry Holmes done the same thing (and if anyone was listening), no one would be defending them.

Just give a damn warning Mac. Jeez. Enough listeners are mad about it. I know it's easy to be a tough guy on this but is it really worth it?

Just say "we're gonna talk about the Sopronos in a few moments so go away for a little bit".

You'll probably say its never smart to send listeners away. But I'm sure people will go away on Mondays if you keep talking about the Sopranos anyway.

Plus. Is discussing the Sopronos riveting radio anyway. I haven't heard these discussions but I'm sure it goes something like this.

Mac - Boy I didn't see that murder coming.

Jurko - Murder. Wonderful

Harry - That hooker Tony was with was hot.

Jurko - Hooker. Fantastic.

Mac - Tony is gonna lose all of his money gambling.

Jurko - Gambling. Great.

I've never heard them discuss Sopranos before until Silvy and Waddle got some slack for giving away an episode. It strikes me as odd.

Good point. Since when the hell did Mac start watching TV shows? I thought he was just a sports and porn guy.

Sherri must have turned Mac onto the Sopranos and Entourage.

You have to be careful with that though especially in the beginning. I have a coworker who's wife is a few out of his league and after a few years of marriage he has pretty much become her subservient little bitch. I listened to him talking on the phone with her last week and it made me sick how meek and timid he was on an issue that he was completely in the right about. Sad.

I don't know about that . He said yesterday that his Monday viewing was 'Dancing with the Stars' and 'Hanna Montana'. Sounds very gay to me .
