My wife wants to go there (with me, I think).

I have never been there. I read the online hotel reviews. As always they are littered with people complaining "this sucks and that sucks". I don't know what to beleive.

Any suggestions? (wisecracks welcome as always)

Lake Lawn Lodge is nice though kinda pricey. The rooms are nice and they have a great bar overlooking the lake. Rigatony's in Lake Delaven is a fantastic Eye-talian deli.

GEORGE: I told you those trips were relationship killers. Too bad you can't get your buddy Superman to fly around the Earth at super speed and reverse time.

You'd get all the money back - you could have avoided the whole trip to Vermont.

A cabin at Aurora University's George Williams campus. Right by Yerkes and they have good food.

I'd just go ahead and believe that everything sucks.

I believe if you go behind the Popeye's near the state park you'll find a faded wood pallet with several distinctive stains, that's where #75 Ryan Mathews was conceived.

Popeye's isn't near Big Foot.

Place is a shithole. Should be avoided at all cost. I live 5 minutes away and can speak honestly about it. Okay, it's not that bad, I just don't like all the extra people there.

Grand Geneva isn't bad from everything I have heard. It use to be the Playboy Club. We went on school trips there when it was known as the "Americana Resort". Problem with the Grand Geneva is you are about 5 minutes from the lake. If you like Golfing, it is definitely the place to go, but if you want water time, it's not the most convenient.

I've put my in-laws up in the Harbor Shores. It right across the street from the Lake and offers a great view. A little pricey for sure, and the rooms were not immaculate, but it puts you close to all the restaurants and shopping places. There is a Gino's East attached to the hotel which offers a great dining experience. Don't pass it up because it's a chain pizza place. Other places in town are hit or miss when it comes to food.

Avoid Popeyes. People will say its the place to go, but the place has gone to crap lately. They had to change owners because things taste different. Not as great as it use to be. Plus, give yourself time, this place is always crowded and you will be waiting.

Thank You.Quadrophenia ! Your review of Harbor Shores was pretty acurate. We stayed there. Not very modern, but not terrible either. As far as the Chain Pizza place attached to it. I had a bite of my wives Sausage/Beef combo sandwich. The beef tasted like ass and the sausage was funky. I tried drinking the water, that sucked too. A couple of days later we ordered a pizza...Guess what? It sucked (lack of tomato sauce). As far as LG goes,I loved it. A very nice place to walk around or just stare out at the lake. We went on the boat cruise (2 hours-they have shorter ones though). It was nice and we found out some millionare's birthday was the next day. He was having fireworks. Sure enough, the next evening we had a perfect view from our balcony of the show. It was one of the best fireworks shows I have seen.
We enjoyed a resturaunt around the corner from Harbor Shores. Spreckers was the name of it. We also went to that 1920's place,Baker House. That was no big deal. But we now know the "lay of the land" for next time

Sprecher's is pretty good -- they also have one in Wisconsin Dells (both are attached to hotels.)

We went to a place in Williams Bay that I thought was really good -- the Public House -- turns out it is the same one that is in Crystal Lake(?) If you feel like getting away from the massive crowds, it wasn't a half bad place to go... about a five minute drive around the north end of the lake.
