Seems like he's hitting the ball exactly where he wants it, playing with a lot of control. Is anyone burning up the course? If he shoots par the whole week he probably wins.

I would take even par right now and never put a peg in the ground. I would also like my chances.

This is the 117th US Open. In the previous 116 tournys, Even Par or worse has won 30 times since 1930 when they started keeping track of that mark.

That means 82 US Opens have been won with a score of -1 or better.

Even par will be in the top 5 for sure.

Last time I checked top 5 doesn't win. I'm sure you have given Mac quite a verbal beating when he was "top 5"

In 1998, when the US Open was last held on the Lake Course at The Olympic Club Lee Janzen won at Even par.

I am with HA, you give me a posted E after 72 right now and I will sit and drink in the clubhouse all weekend. And make sure the etcher gets the spelling right on my name.

The last time the US Open was held at Olympic was in 1998. 280 (E) was the winning score.

Yes. I think Don is saying that he would take his chances at Even par after 72 holes.

I think 1 guy will be under par and will win.

And his name is....I don't know. Probably Tiger based on how he played today.

Looks like Phil still has his "mental fatigue". What a dbag. Hopefully he withdraws mid round Friday claiming some other lame ass thing.

I see there are 6 guys on the course currently under par for the day.

Looks like the course is playing just as hard today as it was yesterday.

Yeah, it is going to play tough all weekend, especially if it doesn't rain at all. I am
looking forward to watching Woods' group tonight, probably catch the back nine,
maybe a little more.

Thompson tees off in a few minutes. If he's starting on 1, I'll say he's even par for the tourney by the 7th hole.

Yeah, he is going to be under an awful lot of pressure. Will be interesting to watch how he handles it.
You never want to see someone like that completely crash and burn but I would be very surprised if
he finishes even par or better this afternoon.

Struggling early. Likely to -1 here in a minute.
