What happened?

He removed a guy who couldn't be hit after just 77 pitches. The guy happens to be left-handed and the next three scheduled hitters were also lefties.

Also, when will the Sox identify that the sun has set on Crain and Thornton? They are no longer high leverage situation guys. As back end bullpen guys, they're okay. But Nate Jones is obviously your top righty set-up guy out of the pen. From the left side, the Sox have a lot of guys. Whether any of them are reliable is the big question. That might be a role for Quintana if and when Danks returns. I would hate to see a guy who is pitching like Quintana have his innings limited by a move to the pen, but the left-handed relief that was once considered a strength now appears to be a glaring weakness.

Hopefully Ventura learns from this game today and the Sox can sort the bullpen out and move forward. I know the Cards and LA are good but the Sox should won this weekend's series.
