It really depends on which chipset generation the console his. Anything from Falcon until the present chipset are fine. My Elite has a Falcon, bought it in 2007, not a single problem since then. Just make sure to keep it well ventilated as you should do with anything that needs a fan to circulate air.

But again, buyer beware...especially with used pieces of electronics.

Don't the newer ones still sometimes have the RROD?

The failure rates beginning with the Falcon chipsets were drastically reduced. Still happens but not nearly as much. I had some numbers (per MSFT) I'll try to find them.

I wouldn't touch the first two generation of the X360 with a ten foot clown pole.

tell them to go outside. Yeah, I know I'm not helping. I am a reformed gamer and never stepped up to get a 360 or PS3.

Hey, it wasn't a wet towel...just a regular one...

...and that's a proven (albiet temporary) fix!

Sorry Ivan...couldn't tell...

...not sure how old your 360 is, but I'm guessing that window has come and gone...there was a time where any unit that failed for the 3 red lights (RROD) could be sent back, on Microsoft's dime, and they would fix it for free...had to be that particular failure mode...

...think that offer is done now.

The towel thing isn't a joke.

Ah, thanks.

I'm just getting tired of my extremely loud Xbox. Guess it is what it is...

Yeah, the original was a loud box...seemed to be the DVD causing most of the noise...

...the new one is better in that regard...but not "whisper quiet" like they would lead you to believe.
