Good Lord, is North/the Score full of themselves.

"Reverend Jesse Jackson and the Score's own Mike North championed the campaign to get a statue of Mr. Cub.....blah, blah, blah."

Ok, first things first. Yes, Banks deserves to be immortalized by the Cubs organization. In my opinion, he deserved a statue long before Harry.

Be that as it may, let's think about this. If you were the Cubs, would you be more influenced by:

A: Jesse Jackson

or

B: A sports broadcaster who's claim to fame is being a hot dog vendor.

Methinks Jesse had more to do with this getting approved by the Cubs brass over Mike.

Murph has mentioned it many times over the last year and a half or so.
If Murph would have had the foresight to contact Jesse a year ago, we would all be able to look at Ernie's two heads today.

Odds are most of the non Cubs fans that go to Wrigley are gonna think that statue is Ronnie Wo Wo until they read the plaque.

Unfortunately, far too many of the Cub fans will think the same thing.

I am not a fan on Murph, but I also have heard him mention it and North says "Murph came up with the idea, I ran with it". First of all, I am a cub fan and the whole statue thing is stupid. Secondly, North is going on a all out blitz to keep his name in the paper and that means even if it means screwing co-workers and taking credit for thier ideas, I gotta beleive that he cant be a well liked person at the score these days.

Jeez! That would be about 75% of the people coming to Wrigley! LOL!

That's exactly what I thought. Murphy, while he drives me up the wall, was the person who mentioned it first. North just plays the politics BS better.

And as far as non-Cubs fans thinking it was Ronnie instead of Ernie? Count me down as one who wouldn't assume that. I might never of be a Cubs fan, but I certainly can admire, respect, and honor Mr. Cub himself.

Like I said, long overdue.
