It was so promising. The Bulls were poised to get back to the Eastern Conference Finals and take down the Heat. They battled through injuries and won games with JL3 and Mike James. Deng played through his injuries and Rose looked ready to go for the playoffs. Then Rose blew out his knee, Noah turns his ankle and the Bulls can't beat Philly. Then the Heat win the championship. What a terrible season. I wish they were in the lottery, so they could have drafted someone decent. I guess next year they will be in the lottery by the time Rose gets back on the floor.

They did have a good chance. The only reason to think otherwise is if you think this year's playoffs would play out exactly like last year's. I think it's clear that logic is silly. The Bulls were better than Miami all season long, they just lose their leader. Would we be watching the heat right now if LeBron tore his ACL two months ago?

Good chance he is gone. The latest rumors have 5-6 teams interested. I can understand them trading him to get into the lottery this year (Matt Harrison?), then missing the playoffs to get another lottery choice next year, then they amnesty Boozer after next year to create approx 20M of cap space...

If the Bulls are in fact going to blow the team up, get into the lottery and dump half of their bench (Korver, Watson and Brewer) along with Deng, does it really make sense to sign Thibs to a long deal?

The Heat showed they can lose against the Pacers and Celtics. No one knows which Heat team would have shown up.

Of course it's not indisputible, but I think when you look at how Miami dismantled an OKC team that is far better than the Bulls, you could see how I'd make that claim. Why do you always act as if I'm coming out of left field with stuff?

theoretically, with a 100% rose and deng, I think the bulls would've put forth a better effort than OKC, but that didn't happen, and it's not ever gonna happen, and unless the bulls win the lottery next year, they are back in NBA hell.

They had a head-to-head matchup a few months ago where OKC absolutely blew the Bulls out of the gym. Granted Rose didn't play but that kinda goes with my main point:

No, not at all.

I'm saying that OKC has more quality role-players surrounding their stars than the Bulls do. Even with Derrick Rose healthy, he still has to max out and pretty much break his back in order for the Bulls to beat teams. Durant and Westbrook don't have to do that. They have enough of a supporting cast where other guys have been able to give a lift when Westbrook or Durant aren't playing well. Derrick Rose doesn't have that luxury.

That's what I mean by "one-man team". The current Bulls epitomize that phrase more than any other elite team that I can remember.

Who is Mike Martin?

If you are talking about Mike Miller, that guy blows. Yes, I know he was 7-8 last night, and had one of the greatest reserve performances in finals history, but that guy's career is finished. He can barely get up and down the court. He will probably turn this fantastic performance into another big contract that whoever he signs with definitely regret.
