I just mean to point out that a 4th of position is better filled by a young guy on a team thats rebuilding.

Nah, a developing player whom a team expects to mature into a full-time player at some point is better off getting regular playing time/at-bats--either
as a primary outfielder or, if they aren't ready for the majors, down in AAA.

You don't make

Oh, I make.

Those ab's would be better used on young guys. Not neccessarily A prospects but having a 35 year old journeyman serves no purpsose

Also, the 4th OF could mean, when one goes down, you call up the young guy to be an everyday player. Rather than plugging in the journeyman

Now that he has been DFA'd ...What is your favorite Fukudome White Sox memory?

Not a bad deal all in all ....didn't pan out by no loss.

One glaring problem I see with Ventura is the use of his bench. These guys get no regular at bats and then we wonder how the bench is filled with players batting below .200. Fukudome is nothing great but I still think he can fill the role of 4th OF. AJ's spectuacular first half is going to be followed with a grind of a second half as he gets worn out.

I don't disagree with you, but it seems a lot of fans want it both ways. They want the manager to use their bench but then when they do they bitch about the "Sunday" lineups, etc.

I was angry when the Cubs signed him for what they did. No MLB games under his belt, it's best not to reward him with the contract they did. I would never risk it. His last decent season was with the Cubs.
