Keyser's lineup made the most sense to me;

De Aza
Beckham
Dunn
Pauly
Rios
Youkilis*
Viciedo*
AJ* (*you could actually interchange any of these 3 guys)
Alexei

Carl Everett was a big part of a World Series winning team in 2005. I'm cool with history repeating itself.

The Griffey Sox won the division and Carl Everett carried the Sox offense thru June of 2005, the team that went on to win the WS.

Manny and Robbie Alomar were busts.

If I were RV, this is my White Sox lineup.

30 Alejandro De Aza CF (L)
15 Gordon Beckham 2B (R)
32 Adam Dunn DH (L)
14 Paul Konerko 1B (R)
20 Kevin Youkilis 3B (R)
51 Alex Rios RF (R)
12 A.J. Pierzynski C (L)
24 Dayan Viciedo LF (R)
10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R)

This is the actual lineup for tonight in Minnesota:

30 Alejandro De Aza CF (L)
20 Kevin Youkilis 3B (R)
32 Adam Dunn DH (L)
14 Paul Konerko 1B (R)
51 Alex Rios RF (R)
12 A.J. Pierzynski C (L)
24 Dayan Viciedo LF (R)
10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R)
15 Gordon Beckham 2B (R)

Jake Peavy does the chucking for the White Sox vs. the Twins' Francisco Liriano in the first of 3.

I keep trying to find a way that this trade could be a bad thing for the Sox and I can't. Even with Youkilis at his absolute worse it's a win. This feels like what Hendry did to the Pirates. I love it!

Ummm you mean besides the fact that Aramis was 25 and Youk is 33?

Sure. The point still stands. Similar to the Cubs the Sox basically paid nothing for Youkilis. Hill was actually a better prospect than Stewart.

Aram was a young player who was getting even better and he was about to get out of their price range. Youk was hitting awful and the only thing worse than his hitting was his attitude and he is old. Aram was acquired to be part of the foundation of the team for many years and Youk was aquired for 3/5 of a season.

In 2003, before he was traded, ARam was .280 ./330/.448/.778

Youkilis this year .230/.311/.372/.683

Plus, as mentioned, the 8 year age difference between the two.

Don't worry Nas, I understand you were not comparing the players involved but the nature of the move.

Yeah, I get it but not sure Stewart is as worthless as some make it seem.

He will be a major league starter.

Yeah, the way Randy Wells is. He's a marginal guy.

Stewart is a sinkerballer who serves up gophers. He can easily do that in Pawtucket. When a guy is 25 and has been traded 3 times, it's time to quit tossing around the "prospect" label.

Not so sure about that. Some of his advanced numbers suggest he hasnt been as bad as his E.R.A. and Whip would tell you.

He was a top prospect 2 years ago...He's really no different than Humber when the Sox got him.

He'll probably end up a 3-4 starter.

He is marginal when he is on. He is a minor leaguer when he isnt.

I think his main quality is a low salary for a MLB starter

The eye test suggests that he is bad. I've watched him pitch this year. I saw him last year. I watched him in person give up 10 runs to the Royals in September.

His numbers are what they are because he sucks. I would take Randy Wells over Stewart 10 times out of 10, and Randy Wells is not good either.

As a Sox, my best hope for him was to stick as a long reliever/spot starter. I lost hope in him by the end

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. Those very generic old school numbers look bad, if you look a little deeper at some his adjusted stats, they arent nearly as bad.

His HR rate is way up this year and the end of last year. I bet that gets better in Boston.

That would be a poor choice on your part.

Stewart is basically the exact same as Phil Humber was when the Sox got him, except he's two years younger.

Not at all.

But if I'm choosing between Zach Stewart and Randy Wells, I've got myself a Padres-esque system.

There's no way Orlando Hudson stays on this team after the trade deadline.

Why didnt Coop work the magic on Stewart?

More important question: What happened to Stewart's 93-95 mph velocity?

I think he's still going to be here, GD. Hudson now backs up Gordon Beckham at 2B and I wouldn't be shocked if Hudson gets a look at SS for a game or two to give Alexei Ramirez a breather from the lineup.

As for Eduardo Escobar, he now becomes this team's Brent Lillibridge in the sense that he pinch runs for Paul Konerko or Adam Dunn in late game situations and would likely play in the outfield or 3B with Kevin Youkilis shifting to 1B to finish the game. I don't think you will see Escobar at SS or 2B anymore...as long as Hudson is here.

SHARK, by all accounts and the eye test, Escobar can play SS, while Orlando has been a 2B throughout his career. 3B was a stretch for him, what makes you think he can play short?
