This just made a bunch of old people on here remember how old they are. Well done Angus. Let me and IMU know when Call of Duty turns 40.

You two won't make it. You'll probably kill each other in a slap-fight.

If I still had my Atari, I'd play some Adventure to celebrate. That damn red dragon always mucked up the works though. I'd love to grab hold of the bat and turn him loose on that dragon. Carry his red ass all over the kingdom. Would serve him right.

The way I see it there's two types of posters here. One group loves this. The other group has no idea what the hell you are talking about. I'm part of the latter.

- IMU is forming a third group. The "I don't know what the hell you are talking about but I have google so I'll be back to correct you in a second" group. Needs a catchier nickname.

Instead I think I'll play House of the Dead 2 on the Wii. Suffer like G did?

Actually 4 groups.

I have no idea what he was talking about AND I loved it.

It was one of the first "fantasy" video games. Extremely primitive graphics of course. You were a knight (not sure how we knew that though, because your character was a simple square), and you had to run around the kingdom (a series of "rooms" which were basically empty screens of varying colors and borders), looking for a chalice. You had to carry the chalice to the yellow castle to win. There was a green dragon, yellow dragon, and red dragon that would roam the kingdom, and try to eat you if you happened to enter their territory. If you managed to find the "sword" (represented by a yellow arrow graphic), you could slay the dragons.

wikipedia explains in more detail for those of you who suddenly find themselves intrigued by this  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_(Atari_2600)

I hope Call of Duty doesn't leave behind a legacy like the Atari did. It doesn't deserve it.

Maybe you can help me out. If you're saying the game kinda sucks of whatever, I agree. Why do "gamers" seem to love it then? Or is that more a military gamer thing? If that's not what you meant, what did you mean?

Black Ops Zombies is entertaining when drunk/high. The other dudes from my unit used to make a rule saying you ain't allowed to shoot FF unless taking direct fire from him. I was terrible enough where people would point me out on their screen and then kill me as im looking into the air or something. FPS games were never my bag, although I'd take the original MS-DOS version of Doom over anything but Civ, Starcraft, Madden, and NBA2k these days.

Call of Duty 1 was a fantastic game...and Call of Duty 4 was a huge leap in online multiplayer FPS gaming. Those games should be held in high regard. But as a series...that is when the Call of Duty brand becomes a joke. Nothing but retreads...and content packs "marketed" as new $60 sequels. Treyarch could never match IW, and Sledgehammer made a mockery of the series. MW3 won the initial battle against BF3 upon release, but as I look at current stats...BF3 (PC) has 18,000 players currently online, MW3 has 7,000. People are starting to realize CoD is becoming a joke...and I hope Black Ops 2 is the nail in the coffin. I'd rather remember CoD and CoD4 instead of these money grab butcherings.

edit: I don't think "gamers" love it. All the guys I know who play CoD are the casual gamers. Maybe play an hour or two or week...and if it is Black Ops - that is usually just the zombie stuff. But they aren't the "true" FPS gamers...and forgive me for making that sound "above" casual gamers. But I mean...CoD is too unbalanced and too "perk-based" to be a true skill / twitch FPS. I don't like that.

Counter-Strike is the most pure of FPS games...and I can't wait to see how this generation of gamers enjoys it. It doesn't have embedded "hampster wheel" gameplay though...and a lot of current gamers need that as a reason to play. Call of Duty games and MMO's have made the hampster wheel standard.

Shut yer friggin' pie-hole, junior. The grown-ups are talking about the good ol' days.

NOW .... for those hankering for a game of Adventure (and don't have an emulator installed ... and why not, might I ask?), here ya go, mister ....

Dear FF,
If you admittedly have no idea what we are talking about why make fun of it? To be funny? To show your ignorance?
If not for Atari there would be no Call of Duty. I guess you kids forgot that things evolve and do not magically appear.
Adventure rocked.

Where did I ever say anything that would lead you to think I didn't understand the evolution of technology. Keep that garbage. As for the rest of it, all I was doing was referencing how old the game is. I wasnt making fun of it. Quit being so sensitive. Apparently Atari is a personal subject with you.

With my Atari/Pong/C64 screenshots recently posted, I'm going to have to put the emulators back on my computer. Time for Pitfall2. Can I catch the balloons without falling all the way down?

you knew he was a Knight because of the picture on the Box.
There is a place in Chicago on the North side right down the street from the Alley that sells old systems all refurbished. I don't know if it is still there. It is between Alley and the Comic store. I used to play River Raider and Combat alot

This name sounds like SHARK created it

I think this group should be called the "Burrito Hot Hatch" group. They love hot hatches, West Nile virus, terrorism, and shitty music with screechy vocals.
