This is true but you assume he is thinking logically. Professional athletes and logic do not always go hand in hand.

That's why they pay people more money than you or I will ever make to make decisions for them. Those people need to be fired tomorrow if he was under the impression New Orleans wasn't gonna match.

He's not going to spend another year not making money, which is all he cares about. Also, he has only played more than 62 games once in 4 years. That is injury prone. And he is not a top 5 shooting guard.

Name 5 shooting guards better.

He's only been in the league 4 seasons. 1 1/2 of those have been hurt. It's too early to tell if he's injury prone or just had bad luck.

If money is all he cares about then he wont be unhappy in NO. Can't have it both ways.

I'd say no to all those guys except Wade, Kobe, and Harden. I'd add Tony Allen and that's my top 5. Iguodala is a SF.

If he plays more than 15 games a season. Which is unlikely... especially since he hates NO and doesn't want to be there.

getting rid of lots of bad ?

But they are acquiring lots of bad from New Jersey.

but all the bad they're acquiring is expiring deals. they still owed Johnson 90 mil over 4 years and got out of that, not to mention got out of Marvin Williams deal too. how anyone can not call that a huge win for ATL is beyond me. Horford and Josh Smith have pretty reasonable deals ....this will allow them to start over and build around them and Teague, I like it a lot.

Yeah I got a buddy who is a HUGE Mavs fan and he is pissed. He has been telling me Deron and Dwight were locks for 2012.

Guess it depends on what you think failed means. He appears to be striking out in the Free Ajent deal this time around.

But he did set up the Mavs to be pretty good over the last few years and they got a title which many thought was impossible.

I would rather him leading my team going forward than 90% of the other schmucks in the league.

he appears to have struck out several times
not saying he's a failure, i'm not a hater
i do think he could have surrounded Dirk with some better talent to 'stretch out' his later years. clearly his prime is over, but i think if they were to put some better talent around him they could have done better. haywood and marion were bad deals and they've attempted to clear room to sign big name free agents and have struck out

I don't think Marion was a bad deal simply because there's no way they win last year without him. He was instrumental in bringing them their only championship in team history.

ok but he averaged 12/7
not anything amazing
he may have been important but a lot of players could have averaged 12/7, he didn't go crazy or anything

Could they also play all-world defense on Durant and LeBron? We both know Marion doesn't butter his bread from the offensive side of the ball. Isn't 12/7 roughly what Iguodala averaged this year?

Nas thinks that's a bargain for a franchise center.

I'm guessing for close to minimum.

Good move. Dragic had a solid year last season, and he is definitely a poor man's Nash.

Clips sign Jamal Crawford for 3 years/$15.7M and Chauncey for 1 year, $4M.

Solid moves.

So, have the Bulls matched the Rockets offer for Asik? This has to be one of the biggest stories this off-season and I haven't heard anything about it.

That's because there's a freeze on NBA free agent signings until July 11th. The Bulls will have 3 days after that to determine if they'll match the offer or let him go down to Houston.

I'm not sure. Right now, nobody can sign anybody on the dotted line until July 11th under NBA rules.

Will the Bulls match? I wouldn't do it given his fairly low production and the future cap problems that the contract would create. Your sources must know if they are going to match the offer....
