http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/26/mccaskey-bears-believe-in-lovie-but-the-nfl-is-a-prove-it-business/

Bears chairman George McCaskey has reiterated what the front office has said since the end of last season about coach Lovie Smith: He has the franchise’s full support. But McCaskey also acknowledged that with only one playoff appearance in the last five seasons, it’s time for Smith to prove that support is justified.

Asked in a Chicago Tribune interview whether the Bears believe Smith is the right guy, McCaskey said, simply, “We do.”

“The players like to play for him,” McCaskey continued. “He’s consistent. He’s fair. He’s tough. He knows how to win.”

The Bears’ faith in Smith was on display from the beginning of their search for a new general manager, when they said they would tell all candidates for the G.M. position that they had to accept the fact that Smith would return for 2012. However, that means the 2012 season is the opportunity Smith will have to demonstrate to new G.M. Phil Emery that he’s the right man for the job. And McCaskey acknowledged that after eight years as the coach of the Bears, Smith will have to prove himself in his ninth year if he wants to make it to a tenth year.

“Lovie will be the first to tell you that everybody in the NFL is there on a prove-it basis,” McCaskey said. “From what I’ve seen, he and Phil are working very well together. We hope that shows in results on the field.”

And if the results don’t show on the field, and if the Bears miss the playoffs for the fifth time in six year, the front office will probably lose its faith in Smith, and Smith will lose his job.

Well, I see the latest Jenny McCarthy photos feature a full bush. Is that fashionable again? Hank Scorpio and I can only hope so.

While I am not a huge Lovie Smith fan, last year was a GM mistake with the QB thing. How you go through mini camp, training camp and preseason and come out with a QB that can't play on a veteran team is a fireable offense and Jerry paid the price.

That was a playoff team last year.

However, this is a playoff + team as well.

So the jury is now out.

I'm not a big Lovie Smith fan either, but this years Bears team will get him a 3 year extension to coach the beloved. I truly believe the Bears could be the best team in the NFL this year.
13-3, Super Bowl champions.

You are not alone.

Me and Hank agree that bush > shaved, and all drugs should be legal. After that, we disagree on EVERYTHING.

We could do a lot better than Lovie, but we sure as shit could do worse. A lot worse. I don't give a shit if McCaskey gives Lovie 1000 votes of confidence, because it doesn't matter - if the team sucks this year, Lovie is shitcanned, no bones about it.

The Bears don't make big & bold head coaching moves, like hiring Harbaugh or Cowher. They prefer to hire guys who have never been a head coach & who have passive personalities like Jauron & Lovie. I always wondered if Bears Management made a decision to intentionally stay away from guys with personality & "fire & passion" after they fired Ditka. It sure seems like it.

Not sure I would call that a full bush. But whatever it was looked good.

There's bush and then there's untamed bush. We Shall Not Speak of Untamed Bush.

It is quite an accomplishment that two people can agree on arguably the two most important things to Western Civilization and then disagree on everything else.

This is the season where Lovie either craps or gets off the pot.

IF they don't not only make the playoffs but make a run he needs to go.
