Deunte Heath was mentioned as a starting pitcher Sunday in place of All-Star Chris Sale vs. the Blue Jays, Frank, reading the game notes in the paper. RV told reporters this morning that Dylan Axelrod, not Heath, might be pressed into service on just 3 days rest Sunday afternoon.

Also, the Blue Jays are reportedly planning to start 3 left-handers in their weekend series at The Cell. Aaron Laffey, Ricky Romero & Brett Cecil are penciled in to start for Toronto starting tomorrow night.

As for Gordon Beckham leading off, I know he's 0-for-2 in a rare leadoff spot, but it might be only the beginning on days when Alejandro De Aza isn't in the lineup such as the case today and Brent Lillibridge now in Boston as a result of the Kevin Youkilis trade. The way this roster is structured, RV might not have a choice but to lead Beckham off when De Aza isn't in there.

Quintana has really been amazing - in some ways, more impressive than even Sale.

Not bad for a guy who was originally the 26th man when the White Sox & Indians played a day-night DH in Cleveland, the result of a new rule for twinbills this season in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball.

Shark, what are your sources telling you about Quintana's pitching abilities? Is he a flash in the pan or the real deal?
