It was just a joke about your point that the Cubs fanbase has, by numbers alone, a higher total number of people who reflect positive fan characteristics. They would then also have a higher total number of people who reflect negative fan characteristics. For instance, there are likely more convicted felons who are Cubs fans than anyone but the Yankees(laugh out loud).

Anyways, it's a simple question. Do you think the Cubs fanbase is better than almost all other fanbases? rogers park bryan says they aren't. Do you agree?

It's far from a simple question. There are too many ways to define "better" (sorry, SomeGuy) when dealing with groups of individuals. The only way that I could even begin to define "better", as a group, would be to count the number of each.

The number of people that identify themselves as "Cub fans" is large and, through the WGN Superstation era, has not fluctuated wildly based on the color-scheme of their uniforms, how cool Sammy's salute was, or the success on the field. This would, to me, indicate they the group is loyal and larger than others. You can decide whether that makes them better.

So pretty much everything I said was right then? Except you say the fans suck, even though you argue on how prudent they are on a regular basis.

Hey man, Keep on Keepin on. I wish I could be that positive about any of the teams I like.

I think the Cubs fan base is one of the best, if not the best in the league. I just want you to back me up.

I like to keep my eyes on the Cub fans in training, who aren't quite Cub fans yet, but could be great Cub fans someday. I've got my eye on a couple that could be unbelievable.

Sorry I'm right.

I also said the organization wasn't great. Jerry being a great owner isn't arguable. 7 titles. Kenny has a better resume than most other GM's. If the Sox were bad this year he'd be out. However, the White Sox are in first place right now. Hawk is awesome. Anyone who thinks otherwise didn't have to listen to four games in a row of the Yankees broadcasters.

I hope you weren't talking about Konerko in that because you'd be wrong again. I'm firmly on the "he probably took something" bandwagon and have been since last year.

They will be at least as good as Sox Fan Bob, if not better!

That 3rd one could be Don Zimmer Jr., right down to the waistline.

Bulls titles counting in a baseball owner discussion is LOL worthy.

Mike Ilitch (sp?) is the best owner in all of baseball!!!!

Like him or loathe the guy, but Jerry Reinsdorf's teams have results in his tenure with the White Sox starting in 1981 and the Bulls in 1985. I bet there are others who wish they had 6 NBA Championships that Reinsdorf's Bulls & the 2005 World Series title Reinsdorf's Sox won in this city.

What a shock. spanky jumps into a conversation ignoring the context.

My stance all along has been that Jerry is the best owner Chicago has had since George Halas. Please note that George Halas was not a baseball owner so your idea that this was a baseball owner discussion is LOL worthy is pretty misguided given that it's obvious that I was talking about all of Chicago sports.

Mike Ilitch is probably the best owner in Detroit history. Then again, that is a low bar.

So spanky, before you go all condescending please think first. If you had, you would have noticed I referenced George Halas. LOL indeed. L O L.

Right now Rocky Wirtz is the greatest owner in the city!!!!! He has the best winning % of any active owner!

It is true because I am making up the rules! Please don't say differently - I am having an imaginary conversation in my head!

I think that someone with 7 titles beats someone with 1 and a higher winning percentage.

Let me be clear here. I was not talking about baseball owners only in this post. Obviously, you have to clarify this for spanky otherwise he'll think that you are only talking about baseball even if you reference an owner who isn't a baseball owner.

Let me be clear here - since Rick is still not understanding. It's really pretty simple.

This is a baseball thread. Always has been. The first criteria Rick used when explaining why Jerry was a good owner was to list all of his accomplishments from a different field.

Mark Cuban is the greatest owner in the history of the NBA. Did you see what he did in the .com field????

Rick has always said Jerry R is the best owner in Chicago. He's said that 'Jerry is (or is one of) the best owners in CHICAGO SPORTS history' for years. Never prefaced it by saying baseball, just "in Chicago sports. I've seen him say it in the Sox, Cubs, and Bears forums when the McCaskey's come up.

Brick is gon' Brick; that shit with the Cubs prospects earlier was ridiculous. But you are off base here, spany.

This is illogical on two fronts.
1) I was responding to rpb repeating one of things I've said before. It wasn't a baseball only thought.
2) However, let's say that I was just talking about baseball owners in the city since George Halas(which makes no sense because you know, he was a football owner). Jerry is still the right answer! 1 for Jerry, 0 for everyone else in baseball in this city.

You don't think the MLB roster of players 25 and under is better for the Sox?

  I'm not getting into that. I think there are positives for both organizations, moreso for the Sox currently at the MLB level.

Jerry Reinsdorf is currently the best owner in Chicago.

Daniel Snyder is the best owner in the NFL because he was the valedictorian of his high school class!

No I'm really not.

I'm guessing BRick wouldn't have said Jerry was a great baseball owner in 2004, even though he won 6 championships before that.
