Uh, yeah you really are. You are taking it out of the context he has always said it in, which is "Chicago sports"

Hard not to argue it...

I think he is a great owner. I love guys that exhibit patience and loyalty and let their executives run the team. He gets involved when he has to, and he runs his teams to make money. If every team ran based on realistic payroll, we'd see a lot less crazy contracts in sports.

I didn't take anything out of context. He was responding to RPB, who was talking about the baseball teams, and here is his entire post:

Boilermaker Rick wrote:
I also said the organization wasn't great. Jerry being a great owner isn't arguable. 7 titles. Kenny has a better resume than most other GM's. If the Sox were bad this year he'd be out. However, the White Sox are in first place right now. Hawk is awesome. Anyone who thinks otherwise didn't have to listen to four games in a row of the Yankees broadcasters.

I hope you weren't talking about Konerko in that because you'd be wrong again. I'm firmly on the "he probably took something" bandwagon and have been since last year.

His entire answer was baseball-oriented, with the exception of randomly including 6 basketball championships.

Where does Jerry Krause rank on the list of baseball scouts in America right now? You know, six titles ain't too shabby.

You are embarrassing yourself here. I'd drop this bit since it's pretty obvious you don't grasp the concept.

Where would you rank Jerry Krause in the list of greatest MLB scouts?

I said "best owner since George Halas". Do you not get this? Seriously. Just admit you took it in the wrong context and move on. It's ok. You can admit that you were wrong about something.

In spanky's defense, George Halas played for the New York Yankees.

Proceed.

As long as you don't compare him to a Sox player. "They" tend to lose their shit when you compare people to Sox players.

With this kind of reaction from spanky you'd think I said something about Spaulding.

Im sorry that i can see faults in my own team and praise other teams. I know thats not how you do it.

According to you Kenny Williams is one of the elite GM's in the league, Reinsdorf is a great owner, the White Sox are a great organization (what's 87 years?) with great fans that NEVER overreact to anything and the announcer is perfect. The two most prolific homerun hitters in the teams history who played thru the steroid era, are unquestionable squeaky clean.

You're the most positive fan of a team Ive ever encountered.

The last thing I want to do is defend Rick. But...

Exactly. A lot of warning signs for him.

Then again Rick, you can't make fun of the low bar for Detroit sports owners, while bragging JR is the best Chicago owner since Halas. That bar is even lower. 2/3rds of hiw competition is a newspaper company that never put a competitive team on the field save 2-3 years over decades and a hockey owner whose fanbase immediately rejoiced when he died.

Krause was working as a scout for the White Sox, and I believe now he is some sort of asst in the front office for the DBacks.

Spany, this thread has not been good to you. You have swung and missed more times in this thread than Adam Dunn did all of last year.

I knocked it out of the park. You just refuse to see it.

In a baseball themed thread, Rick used basketball championships to judge the quality of a baseball owner. An owner he was comparing to a football owner from decades ago. Makes total sense, right?
