With Denny Hamlin resting his sore back, I'll now take his replacement.

Joey Logano.

Hamlin is still racing, just not in the Nationwide.

Logano and Newman having yet another disagreement with each other after practice today.

Right now, a backup driver has yet to be announced for Denny Hamlin should his back keep him out of tomorrow night's Sprint Cup race for the #11 FedEx TOYOTA. This much is certain. Hamlin is definitely out of tonight's Subway Jalapeno 250 Nationwide Series race.

LIVE COVERAGE
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/chicagosportsnetwork
--------------------------------------
Everybody pick a driver each week. Nobody picks the same driver, picking is first come first served. The thread will be posted weekly. By rule, I get to pick Jeff Burton each week if I am so compelled. The newly released off probation and racelog co-host Keeping Score gets to pick Joe Nemechek every week. Tally up the points of the driver yous pick each week and reset the field after the Richmond race. This will be a 26 week play-in to the Chase For The Cup.
This means there will only be 43 spots available in this contest. SO SIGN UP EARLY AND OFTEN(you mults yous).

Then, starting with the first Chase race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, the Top 12 posters shall be assigned to the driver corresponding in the SPRINT CUP standings. They keep this driver for the duration of the Chase. The chosen 12 will also get to pick a driver out of the Chase to make things more interesting. And rack up the points for the championship.

Confused? Good. Reward? Yes. A prize of undetermined greatness will be given out after the season.

1. If you pick someone and one of the players ahead of you in the standings want that driver, you have to pick another driver. This will go on for the rest of the season, just like NASCAR. If you don't pick another driver by the drop of the green flag you will be assigned the best available driver based on qualifying. A poster can only have their pick bumped ONCE per week. Your second pick will be protected from getting bumped a second time. Unless someone uses a Dealbreaker award on you.

*Dealbreaker award
This rule has been added to let someone who picks a race winner to be given a Dealbreaker award. It would let the poster either pick bump anyone(except the leader) ahead of them in the standings or take somebodys second pick. It can be saved and used at anytime during the regular season, even right before the drop of the green flag. The Dealbreaker award is a regular season gimmick and none will be given during the playoff season. The awards can transfer to the playoffs, but all deals must be complete by the last regular season race Week 26 at Richmond.

Any players who get their pick bumped or somebody goes and uses the Dealbreaker on them, they will be PM'ed in a timely manner as possible. Dealbreaker awards are able to be bought, sold, or bartered. Players don't have to use them every week or ever use them at all and sell them to players that would really need it late in the regular season. The Dealbreaker may be dealt for straight cash homie, or you can trade some of your points, or work out something to job a player ahead of you in the standings.

Shenanigans are endorsed and encouraged by the Rules Cabal. All trades, deals, and any other kind of brilliant schemes must be presented in the weekly thread and approved by the Rules Cabal for them to be used that week. The value of the Dealbreaker award has yet to been set. I'll leave that up to those involved in the dealings. And let anyone say a single cross word about the Rules Cabal decisions and watch what happens.

2. Driver picking priority will be based off of the weekly standings. Enforcement of rule #1 is ironclad and absolute, unless I feel otherwise or my belly is filled with party liquor. Whichever occurs first.
3. Up to 43 people will be eligible for the contest during the first 26 races of the season. Once the Chase To The Cup starts, only the top 12 will advance to the playoffs.
4. You can sign up and never make a pick, you'll be assigned the best available driver based on qualifying that week.
5. Failure to abide by these rules will be dealt with the most harsh and unfair of judgements by the NASCAR Pick 'em rules cabal, err, committee.

This continues to be some bullshit. Not a big deal really, but bullshit nonetheless.

Couldn't anyone using any mult PM a pick and just say "hey, I'm (fill in the blank) - I'll take Jimmie Johnson!"? Either you are a member of the board and play by the same rules as everybody else does or you don't. It shouldn't be both ways.

Gimme Aric Almirola #43.

I don't even disagree with what you are saying here, but seeing as we all know that any pick of Kes at any time insures that Free Ajent might want to steal it/use tiebreakers, any pick of said Kesmeister must be taken with that in consideration.

I agree. Except "Free Ajent" hasn't participated yet.

But I could have created a mult(s) and had multiple chances to get to the top or accumulate dealbreakers.

This race is exactly the reason that I prefer short track racing. This is a parade at Daytona. single groove racing with no passing. Zzzzzz.....

Nobody seems to know for sure, but it has to be one of two things.

Let's eliminate some options:

1. It ain't steroids. This dude (and most of the rest of them) could probably get beat up by horse jockeys. They are tiny, skinny little fellas that couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

2. Ain't weed. Just ain't. No reason says it is.

3. Unless he was drunk at the track, it's not alcohol. They had time to fly another driver in before the race, so that's probably not the case. Plus, no recent DUI arrest has been reported. Not alcohol.

So........that leaves...............coke or meth. For those of you who aren't familiar, Mr. Allmendinger is not the stereotypical southern, hick, "NASCAR type", but he does lead a playboy lifestyle, has a playboy-centerfold wife..........a happier-than-shit, too cool for the room personality...........

My guess is obvious. Kiss your career goodbye, fella.

Jeff Burton with a great finish tonight.

You know, I can't believe there isn't a huge Burton fan on this board that would've/should've picked him. I mean, if somebody would have picked him every week, no matter what, they'd be extremely thrilled with this result tonight!

Oh well. Nobody likes Jeff Burton. Clearly.

Allmendinger in 2009 pleaded no contest in North Carolina to a misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired. He was given a 60-day suspended sentence, 18 months unsupervised probation and 24 hours of community service.

Your pick is your pick. Just think about the 30 points I missed out on picking Smith over (my guy!) Burton.

You, you scored zero this week. Only ten less points than I did. :(

It seems NASCAR does not tolerate drug use of this sort - given the image they want and the harm it could cause other drivers. Bad situation for Mr Allmendinger.

Mayfield failed a test. He refused the treatment/recovery program to get back into Nascar. Also, sued Nascar trying to go around the system. It did not work.

Car racing is dangerous and deadly, they even get rid of pit crew members for pissing hot. Zero tolerance is taken seriously.
