It is essential to the role of the artist (and yes, a comedian is an artist) to provoke a reaction. The art may not always work well but I would sooner live with petty offenses than live with unproduced art due to the chilling of creativity.

Think about the art student who masturbated with spoiled spaghetti-o's to the applause of her audience. Her art sucked but maybe she will produce something worthwhile in the future, so fap away.

Don't be fooled by the topic, this is a censorship discussion.

Tosh sucks by the way.

Do you have a mixed-religion crowd attending?

I'm not really going to use the joke but yes.

Three priests and a young boy are on a boat in the middle of a lake. The boat starts to sink, and they realize that there are only three life vests. The first priest says, "we have to save the boy". The second priest says, "screw the boy". The third priest says, "do you think we have time"?

That was such a large and fucked up leap of reality that even Evil Knievel woke up and said 'What the Fuck"?

Meghan O"Keefe is truly the dumbest person on the planet as of right now. But it is still early.

And GD, you should open with that joke. I laughed.

Yeah thats why I posted it Vince. It wasnt even relevant to the point of this thread, I just had to put it out there. Rarely do I come close to saying WTF out loud while reading something. It was literally the dumbest thing I have read that I can remember in a long time.

BTW, agreed on the Tosh hate. I just dont find him funny.

I'm not trying to argue but have you watched a few episodes of Tosh.0? I started watching later than most and thought he was the next Dane Cook because everyone seemed to love him. However, his show became can't miss television for me pretty quickly.

Tosh.0 is hilarious. I don't find his standup to be anything great, though. Give me Jim Gaffigan.

Tosh.0 is pretty hit or miss but when it hits its really funny. The best parts of the show is when he is just riffing on stuff. The Web Redeption part of the show can be soul suckingly awful though.

I've been told the show is taped in front of an audience, but they pipe in a laugh track, and it ruins it for me. Granted, I don't watch regularly, but it's like a Mully and Hanley show. Nothing is that goddamn funny. Throw in his smugness, and rack me, but I'm out.

Yeah I saw about a dozen episodes when it first aired. Maybe it's changed since then. I know alot of people love it. I get the same reaction when I tell people I don't like the Colbert Report.

The show was great at first but I am tiring of him and his "I'm awesome" attitude. Never buy into your own hype.

Fair enough. I've watched a few of the episodes from the first season on reruns and the newer stuff is better as you would expect.

I wouldn't tell anyone they are wrong about comedy shows. I think that The Office is actually better now that Michael Scott has left(and I'm a fan of other stuff Carell does). Most disagree.

I have heard that Office opinion from quite a few people. I never even gave it a chance because I checked out even while Carell was still on the show.

I stopped watching after the season when Stringer Bell showed up to make everyone's life miserable.....I did catch Carrell's last episode. I hear they are trying to spin off a Dwight on the Farm show.

I recently exposed my older kids to the original Animal House on dvd, just to give them a reference to many of my jokes/lines. I was actually kinda surprised as the movie ended and the main characters' futures were revealed, that it was ever deemed funny that one guy was murdered by his own troops in Vietnam, and that another was raped in prison while serving time for white collar crime.... Yes the movie is considered a comedy classic of a certain generation, a pillar with Caddyshack and Blues Brothers. Probably like American Pie and Something about Mary are for a later group. Crude and sophomoric throughout. but really, murder and prison rape? I know I laughed the first time, and probably many times after. Now, it kinda crosses that blurry line for me.

I've heard of Tosh.0, my boys have seen it and told me it is funny. I wasn't there for his rape comment to the heckler, nor do I know the context. Could some of the people have thought it was funny, sure. Would she ever, probably not. Maybe no one would ever think what she said to him was funny, either.

You saw Bill Hicks when the Kevin Matthews guy heckled him? Cool.

Carell brought a charm to the show that is totally absent now.

Helms and Rainn Wilson are the only saviors now, but the show is not the same. Carell's delivery was just so damn perfect.

People that laud the show since he left just abhor frontrunning - same people that like hipster manpurses and skinnyjeans.

The show the last year or so w/ Michael was kind of rough. I think it's decent again. Not as good as it was the first few years, but really only a few shows keep it going after so long. Michael became more obnoxious ever since he started fapping over Holly. Holly nearly killed the fucking show.

To get back on track, I think Tosh is pretty funny. I don't really know about this rape "joke", seemed to just be an attack to me. He needs to be more clever than that w/ hecklers. D-
