I believe earlier in the week that Dan Bernstein said that he told Camp One Step that any association with Livestrong would force him to quit the organization.

Well, here it is. Guilt by association.

wow. Yes, I heard his "holier than thou" vow the other day on the radio...how he took every board member aside, and looked them in the eye...and made it abundantly clear to them that he would not have anything to do with this organization if there was ANY association whatsoever with Livestrong & Lance Armstrong.

Well Dan...Who You Crappin???

I've heard the stat that 1/3 of American girls are abused by the time they are adults. Needless to say, child abuse is a massive problem. Bernsie isn't going to solve this with his Penn State crusade. I think most of us gravitate towards sports to get away from the other parts of life- work, bills, family problems, whatever. Essentially sports are a form of an escape and meant to be entertaining. What he has done is dragged the bad parts of life and thrown it in our faces for some sort of personal crusade, which defeats the whole purpose of why people listen to sports talk radio.

His show, so he can do what he wants.

Dan Bernstein has personally stolen money from cancer patients.

Bernstein just tweeted that he has heretofore severed any and all ties with One Step, various Twelve Step programs, and Irish Stepdancing. His affiliation with the Dubstep genre, however, remains intact.

BRick,

I understand your disdain for Bernstein, however, I think you really need to check your facts before making such statements.

This is not Lance's LIVESTRONG, but a smaller group of younger people who do use his logo to help gain attention and it is a smart move. It really is just a group of people from other anti cancer organizations using the LIVESTRONG to gain attention

More important, if you look at the One Step's corporate Partners, LIVESTRONG is not listed, nor to my knowledge have they ever been involved in any event. Are they acknowledging each other, yes, but that really seems to be it.

You wanna catch Danny B is one of his encapsulating statements, I get it, but how about doing it not at the expense of what is actually a really good cause and something Bernstein does some good for.

See ya at Toque

I hope other Americans know what they call dubstep is really a bastardized version of the same UK genre that began more than 10 years ago.

So I can't walk a goat across the country, or do charitable work for any group associated with Livestrong?

Who would follow such proclamations?

Ten foot midge? Gary from evanston? Madduxboy?

Exactly. And Jerry Sandusky is in jail. He isn't raping any children anymore. And no one at Penn State is covering it up anymore. But children are being raped somewhere. Why doesn't dan focus on that? Because it's too fucking hard. He's got dinners to eat at Alinea and hockey games to play with his kid in his basement. Just like everyone else. He needs to put the high horse back in the barn. Or read this:

A fair retort by "bigfan".
bigfan wrote:

One of the biggest complaints about LIVESTRONG is how it is more of an "awareness" organization than an actual research for the cure organization. They are simply using the logo to get awareness. It's pretty much indisputable that LIVESTRONG and this alliance are associated together.
bigfan wrote:

Why would LIVESTRONG ever be listed as a corporate partner? They are a charity, not a corporation.
bigfan wrote:

This I have a problem with. Dan Bernstein has no problem bashing other charitable efforts. He, rightfully, has bashed LIVESTRONG. He also has bashed the guys who walked with a goat for charity and used his own charitable efforts to lend himself credibility. I believe the quote was "I know what it's like to raise money for charity, I've done it" and then he said how much he raised. I'm not bashing his charity. One Step is a great charity, and if I lived closer I would be involved in his events. I also like Dan Bernstein. I'm just bringing to light an interesting piece of information for someone that is so indignant about LIVESTRONG that he would rather sever all ties than be involved with them if they are involved with LIVESTRONG.

Let's be honest though. If LIVESTRONG called up One Step tomorrow and offered them $2 million dollars, they, and Dan Bernstein would gladly accept.

So, in conclusion, all I'm doing here is bringing other information to light. We'll let the reader decide if there is hypocrisy here. In my opinion, even if it's not a major one, there is an association here between the two organizations. If anything, LIVESTRONG is helping raise "awareness" of the One Step Camp.

Also, if this blog is supposed to be believed, the Young Adult Alliance was created by LIVESTRONG and the National Cancer Institute. If true, this is Lance's LIVESTRONG.
Quote:
In 2006 the National Cancer Institute and the Lance Armstrong Foundation put their heads together to address the issue of the 70,000+ young adults diagnosed with cancer annually. Their solution– the Young Adult Alliance, a coalition of 140 organizations whose focus is to improve survival rates of cancer patients between the ages of 15 and 40.
