Espn def has an interest in protecting the brands they deal with. Its all about recruiting, and the revenue recruits generate.

Look at the way BtN didn't cover this story... They can hide behind their bullshit reasoning, but protecting the penn state nme is priority number one. Money. Always.

Bernstein (and Drinky according to tonight) obviously wish to be more than just sports talk show hosts in Chicago, which is why they have taken this story on with heart and soul. That's very admirable on their part, but they also need to understand the market they work in. This is a Chicago sports market, not a national news market. I have no problem with them covering aspects of this non-sports story, but to drive it home every single fucking day, gets a bit old. All they have to do is cover the Syrian crisis and it'll be like WSCR-CNN....the thing is, I don't want to listen to CNN on the radio because I could just tune it in on TV. But I don't want to. I get my fill of national and world news with other sources, but the Score is supposed to be an outlet for Sports, or general BS talk (like with Mac and what used to be with B&B).

Mac gets it, but Bernstein and Drinky don't.

It's laughable how much you are overestimating the revenue that Penn St generates for ESPN. it's gotta be less than .0001% of their gross revenue. They dont give a shit about the Penn St brand.

Its cool man. You've been drinking, and once again want to stumble down the path of condescension towards a meaningless spat over semantics...

So if espn covering kobe night and day, when his serious story wasn't as serious, then I guess espn should have rented out a condo in happy valley to get the scoop on penn state. But they didn't...

You make no sense FF, but you type these hollowed statements draped in faux, tipsy confidence over and over and over and over again. Its annoying. I don't even care this much.

Espn fucked up covering the trial. That's my opinion.

Debate with yourself now.

I'm sober as a judge and all my thoughts have been of the same vein. You are the one contradicting yourself. It's ok though.

Its like I need a picture book for you.

Im speaking on penn state's revenue generating.

You didn't or don't watch college football enough to see how much JoePa was championed by disney/abc over his career...

Now, after the freeh report, not much is in hiding. Penn State is fucked.

Bernsie is living in a delusional word where this story and his (albeit likely good) charity matter not one little shit to the world.

ESPN glories all sports figures who are among the best of all time at what they did. That's their thing. They are yellow sports journalists. You're trying to see things that aren't there if you think that has anything to do with Joe Pa raising money for Penn St.

I disagree FF.

You don't see many Asian journalists at ESPN.

It's been well documented the past 6 months how much ESPN hates Asian people. That probably explains why.

That's true.

Same for the Score.

Bernstein and Goff hate Asians.

Probably because Leery is half Asian.

This station has absolutely beat me into submission with this story. Any new developments can be reported and commentary can be brief. Beyond that, it's nothing more than pure mental masturbation at this point. It has all been said, dozens of times or more.

How did Big Ten Network not covering the Freeh report press conference protect the Penn State name? Do you really think there are people that only go to BTN for news?

BTN probably should have shown the press conference but people are blowing them not showing it way out of proportion.

I believe most people realize the BTN isn't a 24 hour news network. I think what turns alot of people off is the extensive coverage they had of paterno's funeral, then compare that to not even talking about the Freeh report and also waiting 72 hours to talk about it back in November when the story broke.

I don't want to come off as a blind defender of the BTN, but they did talk about the Freeh report on the ticker and had it posted on the website.

They just didn't broadcast the press conference.

The ticker? So it received about the same amount of coverage as espn dedicated to the wnba?

Yes, though BTN doesn't really have live programming at this time of the year. They may have a news show but I really don't know.

You'll be happy to know that BTN.com has posted an original column bashing Paterno. At least it's something.

They knew the Freeh report would be a BFD. They should have been prepared and covered it.

It doesn't really bother me though. People who are actually upset about it are misguided. Like one of the Score columnists said, going to the BTN for Big 10 news is akin to going to chicagobears.com for Chicago bears news.
