Drew got this because of the arbitrator that ruled that the franchise tag in San Diego mattered here.

He was guaranteed $40 million the next two years(unless he got a massive injury and the Saints cut him). That's why he gets $60 million guaranteed.

Move over Michael Jordan. Isn't this now the highest salary (for one season) in the history of professional sports?

If you count auto racing, $51 million is the top for one season.

I think Ngata made $37M a couple years ago in the first year of his deal. I dont remember hearing 40.

If you break down Year 1, though, it's only $2.3M per game. I guess he figured holding out wasn't worth it.

Those are winnings though. I was talking about a salary from a team. Doesn't this hurt teams that try to franchise a QB next season?

He hasn't even commented on the PSU/Paterno Scandal...

His silence means he supports child rape.

He was already tagged as the Saints' franchise QB. Drew was threatening to holdout if he didn't get his $$$$ from the Saints.

I don't know enough about Formula One, but it says he got a $51 million a year salary for 3 years. The team must get all the winnings.

Looks like he's #1 in team sports though. Lebron James has to be mad looking at this. A sport with 5 times the players and Brees is making significantly more than him.

Since the labor agreement in 1998 it's unlikely any NBA player will every have a salary higher than Jordan's. I think Kobe gets close in the last year of his deal but doesn't pass him.

Joe Johnson's making more than him.

Didn't know they had a school for Clandestine Electronic Listening & Subterfuge Studies.

Don't you think he's overpaid? I imagine there's going to be a target on his back this season.
