Calgary has ridden Kiprusoff hard since 2005. Midnight is striking sooner rather than later on that guy. I don't take that chance.

Hawks talked Bolland for Luongo via ProHockeyTalk from The Province in Vancouver:

They even reportedly dangled one of Vancouver’s arch-enemies, Dave Bolland, to the crew over at Rogers Arena. Now, that would take some getting used to, both for fans and players.

Bolland in the same locker-room as the Sedins? You could probably put their first handshake on PPV. Luongo with Patrick Kane? File it under ‘we’d have to see it to believe it’.

I wonder how serious talks actually got. If the trade was Bolland for Luongo I'd definitely hate it. While the Hawks would win the trade based on talent the Luongo contract is such an albatross and would hinder the Hawks' financial flexibility. Really, I'd wouldn't like any trade for Luongo as incorporating his contract into the Hawks salary structure is risky as hell. The Hawks should wait and see if Crawford is the real deal this year and, if not, they could possibly negotiate a trade for Bernier or Kiprusoff(If Feaster wakes the fuck up and realizes a rebuild is needed which is highly unlikely). Or they could wait until next off-season and see if they could strike a short-term ring-chaser type of deal with Niklas Backstrom or Tim Thomas.

I don't believe for a second that the Hawks have even had one conversation with Vancouver about Luongo.

This year will be different. Wideman and Hudler were the missing pieces to vault them into a top-4 seed.
