Rongey is the ultimate douchebag.

His arrogance knows no bounds, and surpasses Bernstein's by light years. The guy is a nobody at the Score and in the city of Chicago, yet he acts like he's the Mayor. His homerism on covering the Sox makes Zach Zaidman look like an objective reporter. The guy is absolutely horrible to listen to because he cuts everyone off who has a differing viewpoint, and his viewpoint is often wrong in itself - at least according to other Score hosts.

The pre and post was originally supposed to go to Moose Vasko. Then Uncle Jerry found out he was a Cub fan.

So instead of giving the job to a guy who had done the job at the minor league level, they gave it to a guy who had never done the job at any level. Smart.

Almost every time I hear Rongey I think "This guy really sounds like he hates his job." He sounds like he'd rather be doing anything else.

I've had the Score on since 9 am and I've been home for all but two hours and he finally made me turn it off like ten minutes in. That was just unlistenable.

What would you suspect the Sox pre and post game host gets paid? I mean it's only a 6 month job. Granted, it's pretty much a 6 day work week for those 6 months.

What do you think Ranger pulls down for those 6 months? 20k? Maybe 25k.

I know Rongey picks up some update shifts in the offseason. I'm just asking about the Sox gig.

I don't think we'll ever really know how much money Chris Rongey earns to not only host White Sox pre & postgame on The SCORE/White Sox Radio Network, "White Sox Weekly" Saturday afternoons or when he's at the update desk during the offseason.

It's not a six month gig. It is a full time job. 162 games each year + spring training + White Sox weekly. I bet Ranger is in the 50-75K range from the Sox and bags another 10-20K from the Score.

I don't think it's that much or else more accomplished people would have applied for the job. Ranger got it as his first media gig. Bernstein said Jud Serot gets paid nothing and he actually does an inning of play by play and goes on the road with the Cubs. I doubt Ranger would get more than Jud since the Cubs have a bigger audience.

Keep in mind, it's a half hour pre game show for Ranger. And I'm sure DJ and Farmer get paid for that pre game part too since they are a large part of it. So they take some of that cut. Then Ranger does, what? Like an hour after the game. That's at 10pm or later on most nights. Not a huge audience. And it's such little time to generate huge ad revenue.

I've heard Rongey call himself Ranger on several occasions, and in my book, anyone who calls themselves their nickname is a douche-bag...just one of many complaints I have with the prick.

But anyway, I'll bet he makes at least 50K a year. Sure, the Score could get a better guy for that money but that could be said with about everyone of their hosts - it seems to be their modus operandi. But the Sox probably couldn't find a bigger homer than Rongey; this guy has his nose deep inside Reinsdorf's considerable ass, not to mention every coach and player on the team.

50k sounds about right. I just remembered he does White Sox weekly all year. And he does Spring training bullshit shows as Good Dolphin mentioned.

So maybe 35k for his Sox duties and he picks up another 15k doing update shifts for the Score.

Remember that the guy who previously held the position, Dave Wills, was feeding a wife and kids on the salary. I also think Seacrest said the pay was about 50K base. Then he scratches out a little more with appearances and white sox promotion and a little bit more with Score shows. Ranger is doing fine and will eventually get a gig as a baseball announcer.

I haven't heard this unless he was reading ad copy or something.

Are you sure he wasn't reading ad copy when you heard it? Like a corny line like, "Tell em the Ranger sent ya" or something like that? Because if that's the context in which you heard it, you're just kinda being an asshole about it.

I've noticed that Rongey's doing live reads during his pre & postgame shows this season for a couple of sponsors on The SCORE/White Sox Radio Network.

During the "Horseshoe Casino Pregame", Rongey has been doing a live read for Champion Energy Services, I think during the first commercial break. He encourages listeners to type his first name "CHRIS" in the promo code when fans log on to championenergyservices.com and insists that we can actually save 15% or more on electricity over ComEd. Earlier in the season, there was a Web site Ranger was also hawking in which you could play for free by entering "RANGER" in the promo code for a fantasy baseball site whose name escapes me at this time.

During the "Xfinity Feedback Zone Postgame", Ranger's also been doing a live read for C.J. Wilson Mazda in Countryside. He keeps saying that "it's been a longtime dream of C.J.'s to own a Mazda dealer," even though C.J. signed with the Anaheim Angels as a free agent. Doesn't that seem kinda awkward?
