When the Bears division would be the division of the QBs?

I think even Ponder is going to be good.

When Cutler is the 2nd or 3rd best in a division you know it's a good division. He and Stafford fight it for #2. For both this is going to be the season where which one is better comes clear.

Rodgers is the best in the league imho.

Stafford, while good, isn't very durable.

Cutler, a riverboat gambler, and this year he'll REALLY be. Jury is out, but I think he's gonna break out this year for the Bears - the Oline woes are greatly overrated. Jay was sacked 5 times TOTAL in his last 5 games last year.

Ponder good? You're football crazy, but the first six letters in your moniker already confirmed a lack of common sense. ;)

Do you think Stafford would be more durable if they had a more solid running back tandem? Also wonder if Bush was on the Lions radar.

Would you rather take the QBs from the NFC South or NFC Central? Just looking at Ryan, Newton and Brees vs. Cutler, Rodgers and Stafford.

Ive never understood the jury out on Cutler thing. It is one of those things you see in politics where a totally absurd idea based on nothing concrete, or even numbers that suggest the complete opposite, and people just cling to it. B&B have read a few very well researched articles on why Cutler has been an elite QB since he took his first snap as a starter. A shit load more talented than Stafford.

And if this game needs anything it is some metric to adjust people opinions on QBs with respect to the level of talent surrounding them.

I'm an unapologetic Cutler fan and I will be going forward. I like that he is a complete knobhead.

 We know.

No. Cutler hasn't been elite since his first snap. He has been horrendous at times. Even Cutler wouldn't say that he has been elite his whole career.

Hopefully the excuses for him are over now that he has everything you need on offense. The offensive line isn't great, but it's not terrible either. Let's see if Cutler puts up 5,000 yards like Stafford did last year.

Dont act like that happens all the time.

Cutler was real good last year. Probably top 10 QB when he went out.

Or do you still prefer Matt "No points in a playoff game" Ryan?

mrgoodkat brought up the comparison to Stafford.

Yes, I take Ryan over Cutler too.

Probably? He was without question playing like a top 10 QB when he got hurt.

Even after that playoff game last year?

Do you think you can look at Cutler without bias?

He's a good qb. He has great potential, but you act like he's been awful.

Well, his rating was 85.7. He looked good in the SD game, but 85.7 is usually good for 10-12th in the league.

Yes. It's not like Cutler has killed it in the playoffs either. He did beat a bad Seahawks team though.

He's been awful at times, but in general he's been good, with a few pockets of greatness.

Because even thought its exaggerated, you DO have SOME bias toward Orton and hold Cutler up as the reason he was gone.

That is not how you usually represent it. Thats reasonable.

I would think that any of that bias would have faded with time. It more has to do with how much they gave up for Cutler and that he's continued to be a borderline top 10 qb for his entire time here and he continues to be surpassed by younger QB's(Stafford, Newton).

The thing is that people just have a low bar set for what they expect from Cutler. Hopefully, that has changed with the Marshall acquisition. This is a league with unprecedented passing numbers, and we are excited that Cutler may have been on pace to have a better season than Erik Kramer did.

Rick you are really something. You don't even seem to be a fan of any team anymore, you seem to be just anti Jay Cutler.

I want the Bears to win. I know its a league with crazy good offenses, but if the Bears win the Super Bowl with an offense that is middle of the road, who fucking cares?

So making statements that I feel are accurate about Jay Cutler makes me not seem like a Bears fan?

Constantly posting negative thoughts about the team makes you come off as more of a Cutler hater than anything.

The trade for him is what it was. Its done and over with and all the those drafts are done too. Why not just appreciate the fact that the Bears have at least tried to fix what was wrong with the offense (Martz gone, got Marshall and Jeffery, etc) and root for them rather than piss and moan that Cutler isn't a top 3, 5, or 8 QB.

So the answer is yes. I responded to mrgoodkat's over the top thought on Cutler. I don't see why it's a big deal. It's not like I'm constantly seeking out chances to say Jay Cutler isn't a top 10 QB. If that makes you think I'm not a Bears fan then I don't really care.

YEAH BERAS GO TEAM GO! CUTLER IS A GREAT QUARTERBACK AND THIS TEAM SHOULD WIN AT LEAST 15 GAMES THIS YEAR!

I don't believe this to be true. You always say negative things about him every chance you get.

There's enough things to wring your hands about over the Bears from the start of camp until the end of the Super Bowl. To harp on a trade that was made 3 years ago seems silly to me.

Don't apologize for that. You should apologize for missing the point.

That is your point though. You aren't even arguing against what I'm saying. You are just saying that I shouldn't bring it up or that I bring it up too much.

I guess I should just ignore it when someone says that Jay Cutler is clearly elite and has been since his first game.

I never thought I would see the day that the Bears front office has made more positive moves than the Bulls.

The North was the best division of QB's. You may be able to add #1WR to that list now.

Travaris Jackson can make any WR rather sit the season out with an injury than play with him.

Well I have a fundamentally different idea of elite. We have heard multiple times that Cutler is at least top five in arm talent and hugely underrated in terms of mobility pocket elusiveness. So the issue for me is what he has been surrounded by in Denver, and now Chicago, as arm talent is a given. Both situations had front offices in flux, multiple coaching changes and significant deficiencies in the offensive line (Denver was a young line that is now good). Denver had no significant running game and their defense was crap. So really what you had in Denver was Cutler/Marshall/Eddie Royal. Those number speak volumes when you look at field position, etc. They had nothing going for them.

And everyone knows what he has had here. This has been comically bad. So it goes back to that idea of some kind of metric to track QB success while factoring in almost every other single factor in the game. The elite QBs all have better situations than Cutler has throughout his entire career.

Boilermaker Rick wrote:

You can argue that this is the most complete team Cutler has been a part of, but there are still glaring question marks. And I'm never going to give Cutler the talent nod when Stafford has a guy he can literally just throw the ball in the vicinity of and most times get a big completion.
