Well, they're supposed to do "The Second Half" after Rodie's "Scoreboard Update" at the bottom of the hour. It seems like that's the only time that'll mention the OTHER sports that they should be talking about today...

Why the Jeremy Lin hate? Seriously, I'm pretty sure BernSTINE, Goff and Terry didn't watch much of him during his big run last season seeing as how they spoke about him. A selfish reason is that I'd love to listen to this show because it used to be the fucking bee's knees and they'd make me laugh on a daily basis.

But now PSU talk dominates the show and it's not even intelligent good discussion. It's full of over-the-top baiting and trolling of Pennsylvanians and college sports fans. The bombastic threats and diatribes add nothing to the conversation either. Add the broadcast of congratulatory e-mails, tweets and phone calls thanking them for their extensive "coverage" and you got vomit-inducing radio.

All vitriolic hyperbole ( I think JORR once fronted a band called Vitriolic Hyperbole but I digress) aside, thats kinda what Im getting at. I don't know how even fans of the show aren't just as sick and tired about this dominating the programming on the show just as haters are.

The Lin hate was tiresome, but Dan relishes tearing down those kinds of feel-good stories, so you knew it was coming and just kind of accepted it. At some point, though, he started justifying it by noting that Lin had been cut by multiple teams, and "NBA. SCOUTS. DON'T. MISS." Even for a chronic Association fetishizer like Dan, it was a really senseless argument.

This is my problem with sports talk radio, it's all about hate and negativity. It's the reason I divested myself of it last October. Don't let your kids play football, the Bears suck even when they don't, Penn State rapists, Ozzie crap, etc, etc. Each day is a new reason to hate. It's not why I watch sports and it's certainly not why I used to listen to talk radio. That is why on this board I tilt toward sarcasm and humor. When I am serious, I like to talk about baseball and what the Cubs should do or what will happen to the Sox. Unfortunately, the Score offers little of that during my drive times.
