As The"free" Music sites and services are disappearing, where do you get your music from to download?
I am looking at Amazon or I tunes. What one does everyone recomend?

Since limewire got shutdown I have used I tunes maybe twice for a few albums and that is it. I'm not doing the torrent thing and inviting a billion viruses to my computer.

I torrent ,I use btguard for the masking service. I am using UTorrent and ISO search . What else should I use? THe stuff I am getting does not seem to have a lot of activity to it, I got some eclectic tastes. I have never caught a virus using ISO search

Private torrents do not have viruses based on the strict upload guidelines. They are amazing.

That being said - I either buy the physical albums online from merch stores, download from Amazon, or torrent it.

Yes, and you don't have to worry about your ISP "infiltrating" a download group and reporting you. I've gotten emails from Comcast telling me that I better watch my P's and Q's because they caught me downloading Far Cry.

Personally, I try to buy the physical albums and rip them to my HD at 320kbps.

Sometimes I buy a CD at the store.

That is what BT Guard is for,it masks your IP address making it look like you are someone/place else. Only costs $7 a month.

I feel like I need to take a course on this torrent game to have any idea of how it works, how to protect yourself from viruses and how to take but not share.

It's so simple...Hawkeye had a huge tutorial about five years ago.

Download Vuze and install it.

Spotify premium, they have a great iPad app, you can stream and download at 320kbit/s, and if you have a car with an auxiliary port, you can take your music with you via iPhone or an android... Their older rock music leaves something to be desired, but their selection for me is all I need...

I am no help. I don't own a computer and buy physical albums exclusively.

Rdio.com for on the go/at work music listening.

torrents/mediafire/leak sites/friend shares for FLAC/high bit-rate mp3's.

amazon for physical albums. unless I'm going to see the band live soon, then I'll
wait to pick up their record at the show.

e.g., Bear in Heaven doing a lolla after show at Empty Bottle:

http://www.emptybottle.com/show/4666265/

also, if you buy vinyl, most labels now include a code to dl amazon quality mp3's of the album.
some, like the recent Kelly Hogan record, include an actual copy of the CD inside the vinyl sleeve.

This.

It's the best way to insure the artist gets the bulk of the money from the sale.

I've done this twice in the past 8 months and would agree. Both times got to meet the band and
have them autograph the cover as well.

$14 a month for Rhapsody. I have their app running on each of mine and my wife's phone. I can download any song I want and play online and offline from the phone. Also can play from a browser or their full app. They are missing some bands, like Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Beatles...

Google the name of the album along with mediafire, blogspot, filestube, rapidshare. You should be able to find a rar of it.

Breakdown would likely be:

90% iTunes
5% Amazon
5% Best Buy
