So, let's do a list of each argument.

Jay Cutler is better than Matt Ryan:
He hasnt been historically bad in 3 playoff game where his team was favored.

Matt Ryan is better than Jay Cutler:
Throwing the ball to Roddy White and watching him run

Fixed.

There might be something to this. Coaches were keeping the reins close with Ryan last season, maybe there was a good reason...

Fixed.[/quote]Given what Cutler has been like without Marshall, and what other QB's have been like with Marshall(career highs for both Orton and Moore) I don't think that is a very good case to be made.

Ill teach you how to use the quote function some day

If you were a Falcons fan, wouldnt you be fed up with Ryan losing in the playoffs?

I mean, what if he has an 88 rating and another first rd exit with a bad game?

We just disagree on this.

That's what keeps him from being elite though. His regular season statistics are worthy of being up there with anyone. For whatever reason, he's very much underperformed what you expect from him.

It will be interesting to watch him the next few years. This is his expected "prime". Even one good playoff run will change his reputation.

I'd still put the hands of my franchise in the hands of Ryan for the next 10 years over most other QB's.

SomeGuy puts Ryan in the top 5 and you don't say anything. I say Matt Ryan jumped Cutler(statistically, it's not even a debate) and you say I'm wrong?

Wow and I quoted him. My mistake. I saw Brady Rodgers and figured it was the usual suspects.

Ryan isnt top 10, much less top 5.

SomeGuy, what are you thinking?

And its absolutely a debate when you add in Ryan's historically terrible playoff performances

Re-read my post, please.

I said those bottom 2 spots on the Top 5 were quite arguable. And, GASP, it's being argued!

Just as I predicted!

Arguably top 10. I dont think his own mother would put him top 5

He's not better than

Rod
Brees
Brady
Mannings

Noting who started this thread, I never opened it and figured it would die out after a couple of post. So finally I opened it thinking something interesting might be happening here. Nope.

Fine, arguably Top 10, that's fair.

As an aside,P. Manning didn't play last year, is another year older, is coming off a serious neck injury and is playing outdoors in Denver, no less. I love P. Mannizle but I'm thinking that, based on this coming year, he won't be a Top 5 QB.

Their traditional stats are pretty close, but using wins and playoff heroics to break the tie is a fool's errand (Mark Sanchez has plenty of both, and he sucks). I think Ryan's a little overrated, but the advanced metrics suggest that he's better than Cutler, and by a fairly significant margin.
