The guy who is ONLY posting about Dunn's batting average says "feel free to use his entire body of work, its easy to do."

Maybe you don't understand the meaning of OPS, OB%, Runs, RBIs, Homeruns. And you must certainly not understand their meaning in terms of getting them from the middle of the order.

Feel free to read all of my posts in this thread, instead of picking and choosing my words like they were some of Adam Dunn's stats.

I've repeatedly said all of these things in this thread:

1.His power numbers have been way better than last year. That's obviously positive. No disputing that.
2. Several people have done a good job documenting those power numbers in this thread. No need for me to repeat them everytime I want to post.
3. Rarely does anyone except for me post anything about the parts of his game that aren't "back". BA, OBP, K's can;t even be argued - they are worse than his career averages. So I continue to repeat them, in an effort to clearly and easily show that....
4. If only parts of his game are "back", yet other parts continue to lag behind career averages, then he cannot, by definition, be "back". It's actually simple. Parts are back, parts are not. Part doesn't = all.

Read it slow Frank. I didn't include any pictures.

Congrats on not actually referencing something or somebody on the Cubs in this post.

No no no, I give in. Not back. He has 0 steals when his 162 game average is 6. He has 0 triples when his 162 avg is 1, and he's only been hit bit a pitch once when his average is 7.

Look at all those numbers "worse" than his career averages. What a bum. Fire Kenny. Send Dunn to Triple "A" Charlotte!

Might as well get rid of Ryan Dempster too. He sucks. Hardly any wins this year. What a bum.

Do you realize how goddamn dumb such a statement is coming from a Cub fan posting on a White Sox player in the White Sox section?

You completely missed the point. You do that so much I worry about you, JORR. I'm staying on topic in this thread. It's an Adam Dunn thread. It's not restricted to Sox fans.

Do you realize how many times you have brought up Garza, Wells, Rizzo and several other Cubs players completely out of thin air in the last couple days in threads that had nothing to do with them?

Every story has something to do with the great Anthony Rizzo. I've never mentioned Wells except to compare Zach Stewart to him. Apt comparison, by the way. And I believe I've only discussed Garza with regard to him being traded to the Tigers. Unlike some others, I don't forget what I post.

Now that we've sorted that out, care to answer the question?

Dunn with an infield single!!!

It appears that somehow he has gotten wind of this thread and will begin to get some basehits just to further prove spany wrong.

It's 12-2 White Sox leading the Twins in the Top 8th. Here's hoping they save some of those runs for the Yankees' Ivan Nova tomorrow in the Bronx.

Pretty cool move by Dunn;

Quote:
Jake Peavy didn’t expect to play in Tuesday night’s All-Star Game, but the plan was to have White Sox teammate Adam Dunn enter in the fifth inning as the American League DH.

But Dunn never appeared, instead giving his at-bats to the Royals’ Billy Butler, who was playing in front of his hometown fans.

“My whole thing was to rest for the second half,” Dunn said. “I wanted to make sure Billy got his at-bats for the crowd. So we talked about it. It worked out perfect.”

Yeah no sense in wasting a strikeout at an all star game. :P

Nah that is a pretty cool move. Dunn seems like a good dude.

R.A Dickey was pitching in the fifth too. Dunn wouldn't have stood a chance.

Well, it was like 8-0 already then. Might as well let Country Breakfast in there for the fans

Who knows, had the AL come back somewhat, you might have needed a spot to put in a PH who could go yard late in the game.

When he's sub-mendoza in a couple days, will BA still not matter?

With his OPS being what it is, and his OBP being what it is, why look at BA? It's not very significant of a stat IMHO.

I'll tell ya one thing though, we're looking at over 220 k's this season. Wow.

Not for a guy like him, it's not. It's very significant for a guy like Starlin Castro who hits his way on. If his batting average is low, he's likely having a poor season. The same doesn't necessarily apply to Dunn.

BA is a bad stat for Castro. Who cares if he singles on or he walks on? OBP is a better way of knowing if you're getting it done at the plate, and OPS is the best way to tell how much power you get on base with. BA is a dumbassed useless stat.

Dunn averages an RBI for every hit he has. Meanwhile, he only scores less than half the times he's on base. So it would seem it would be more important for him to hit the ball than get on base. I'm not saying he needs to hit .300. But his ever falling BA should be a concern.

Because he doesn't walk his way on. A guy that hits .320 doesn't have a low OBP regardless of whether he ever takes a walk.

Well, obviously his home runs are tied to how many hits he gets. He's got to be tracking to have the lowest average ever for a guy with 100 RBI. I think Roy Sievers in '54 might be the lowest.
