I remember on the same show where Leery bragged about how many Score Search finalists were former interns, Dan also said something about how most of their interns are advertisers' sons. Can't confirm that part, but that adds another potential layer of sleaze to it.
Some real gems here:

Quote:
4. If you could share one thing about yourself to Score listeners, what would it be?

Despite the fact that I bleed Cubbie Blue, in 2005, I went out with a few friends to watch the White Sox clinch the World Series. I went because I wanted to support my friends as they rooted for the team they love.

White Sox flagship ingratiation? Check!
Quote:
5. Which 670 The Score on-air personality do you admire most? Why?

I admire Laurence Holmes because of the path he took to become a radio personality. He worked his way up at The Score starting as a producer and now is a both a radio and television personality. Besides respecting his dedication to his career and craft, I think he puts on an entertaining and informative radio show. Laurence always shares with his audience what is meaningful to him, whether that is comic books, video games or a tournament for attractive cougars. As a listener, I feel like he truly enjoys every single minute he spends talking on air with his Chicago audience.

SHAKE THAT ingratiation? Triple-check! I, too, admire Leery for the long and tough road he took through Homewood-Flossmoor High and DePaul, and it's no wonder he indeed has the undaunted courage to prattle on endlessly about creepy shit no one cares about. Redeemingly, there's almost a hint of self-aware sarcasm as he lauds his Most Admired Score Personality for curating a "cougar tournament."

It's like this in a lot of fields. Shouldn't shock anybody that the Score is run this way. Positions and advancement are about politics, ass kissing and friendships.

I remember that Goff said he was going to be voting online for one of the guys. Which one was it?

Why did Maya Gavin, Connor McBland, and this new guy get their own shows and 10 Foot Cuntflap did not?

Score feared wrongful death lawsuits from Spada's guests.

It wasn't a contest for on-air last year. It was supposed to be a big deal to get to blog on the website.

Until everyone got to.

Which pays less? I'm assuming the on-air pays $10/hr for 2 hrs so $20/week.

If ten foot burrito got $20/week, that would be $1000/year, and there's no way they would spend that much on a no-name blogger.

Seeing them all wearing suits tells me everything I need to know about the Score these days.

If the station made them, then the Score is stamping out any individualism. Exciting!

If they just all happened to wear suits on their own, then the Score solidly chose a group of unexciting candidates. Exciting!

I also love that Bernstein told Egan that he gave the "correct" answer on how sports should be covered.

Listened twice while in the car. Say this, don't say that, Bernstein's brain was on display, and Mitch Rosen is a real penis.

I actually thought the Latino/Hispanic who is bilingual would get the nod given the demo, but the least dangerous guy did. He sounds like fun...

When the first contest came along I ran into a number of guys who interned at the station who were also looking for the break. One of which was Ryan Sudol, who staffers will talk about on air from time to time. Ryan is working in the business doing on-air work, I just don't remember the state.

You're shitting me. Sudol wasn't an intern, he was a full-fledged employee! He was their internet guy and had substitute-of-last-resort air shifts. He was the guy who gave us the "The Deutsch Bank Championship" drop. And he was allowed to be in this? What a crock. That would be like if Adam Hoge were in it.

These job contests also speaks to Mitch's true feelings of his backups. Think they get that message? I doubt it.

Drink and Goff: What message?

Beardown: Exactly. You just proved my point.

Drink and Goff: :? :?

Beardown: I don't have the heart to break it to you.

Beardown, this spot is lower on the Score hierarchy than the ones currently occupied by Drinky and Jason.

Louie was by far the best contestant, but there is o way was Berns is going to vote for him. As long as Berns is judging this contest every winner will be a typical generic milk toast broadcaster. Its too bad because the score could use another "regular guy" type, like Jurko or North.

The word is "milquetoast," by the way.

100% honest, I can't think of a better companion for the lost souls listening to weekend overnight sports talk (that is the shift, right?) than our very own sinicalypse. Simply from a programming perspective, it makes more sense to have a spin-off of sorts from the Grobber than yet another Bernstein clone telling people how to think thoughtfully about the Chicago Bulls. For the millionth time, stop building a radio station around this. It's not the nature of the format. It would be like running WLS and having a bunch of shows where hosts take any call they get and tell each one that hey that's not a bad idea thanks for listening. The worst possible timeslot on the station should be allowed to get a little crazy. This will probably sound like any old Joe Ostrowski weeknight show where he just authoritatively talks to himself about sports.

They do need a new host with personality. North degenerated in to a clown but the guy was a major draw for the station because he had his own type of flair and personality. Mac has that. Terry has it when he wants to or when Dan hits him with the cat-o-nine tails. Even Bernstein has personality. His might be more irritating than others at times but it works. Fucking Larry W. Holmes has more personality in his left nut than this new generation of bland radio muppet personified by Connor McKnight and Joe O.

I listened in Saturday night to the live broadcast, and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Although Steven Berger ended up winning at the end, I thought Michael Ramos had the strongest, deepest voice of the 4 that made it to the "SCORE Search Finals". I think SCORE Program Director Mitch Rosen was hoping for someone to stand out and REALLY want this job as the live broadcast went on. I wouldn't have been shocked if none of the 4 that made it won the contest, and that "SCORE Search" would start all over again. It was a letdown.
