I completely agree Spaulding - and I did have peace of mind, but not until later on when I could look back on the whole thing and reflect. Like I said, maturity plays a big part on how we perceive things (that, and getting laid for the first time).

I had a core group of friends that were great. I also hung out occasionally with some of the more studious people and stoners. It never mattered to me what people thought and I never let other people control how I view myself.

There's a great line spoke in a "Wonder Years" episode by Adult Kevin Arnold: "sometimes it's not about who you are. It's about what others say you are."

Not everyone can get over that; especially adolescents.

Spaulding - all of this is easy to say now. But as a teenager, we didn't have the ability to have this kind of perspective. I wholeheartedly agree with you what should have been done, but that comes with the extra 12 years I've had to learn how insignificant my problems were then.

I'm not pretending that I had a terrible life growing up in an upper-middle class suburb, but at the time, the lyrics and sound Nirvana gave rise to was extremely identifiable.

Certain music can really hit a chord with someone and express the emotions they are feeling unlike any other medium. It is the reason for music.

I don't know where I would be today without the song "Baby got back" by Sir Mixalot. It got me through some pretty rough times.

I never understood why a teenager would base their self worth on what another teenager said about them. Their pimply, confused, stupid ass opinion is no better than yours. There are plenty of things you could call them out for. On top of that if a person does nothing but mope about it it's no wonder people don't want to be around him/her. Life is too short for that bs.

You don't understand this - I don't understand the difference between two pairs of black shoes that my girlfriend can't decide between, even though they are completely identical. I remember back when my bizarro-Dero wrote a review on Soundgarden's last show in Chicago. At the end Chris Cornell said something to the effect "Your the best fans Chicago - see you next tour!"

i never considered this an argument as much as it was...a discussion.

i'd say you don't know where we're coming from because we ARE guys; but growing up with 2 sisters, i know they had some similar experiences that we did.

With Wesley Willis dead, I'm surprised Eddy Vedder isn't hanging out with Daniel Johnston, the Kids of Widney High, or the Hi Hopes. Syd Barrett was a little too accomplished (and talented) for him.

Maybe he can glom on to Mac's kid and get more play as the Friday-featured artist.

(Please understand: this is definitely not a shot at Mac or his child, btw, just a shot at every asshole like Eddy Vedder who made dough off the late Wesley Willis.)
