It was a nice smooth, mellow jam. Decent baby-making music.

Oh, you got some bad news today, then. The lack of death penalty means you are going to hear about it during preseason College football previews how PSU fans are looking forward to the upcoming season, every Monday after a PSU game railing against people going to the games and cheering for a TD, also I think Curley and the other guy's trial is still to come.

We are somewhere at the beginning of Act 2 or middle of Act 3, depending on who's view you took in the Bernsie/LoHo riveting 5 minute debate on what Act we are in from a few weeks ago.

Have we had any whispering man reports from training camp yet?

Yes. The culture of college sports will be heavily dissected and they will rail against the type of over the top emphasis of something that isn't that important. Then, they'll discuss all the shows they will be doing from Bears training camp and the round the clock coverage they'll have of the competition for the third linebacker position.

Because you know, it's ok for B&B to overemphasize the importance of pro sports because they'd be selling insurance if sports didn't have the place it does in our society.

Paterno Family speaks:

"Sexual abuse is reprehensible, especially when it involves children, and no one starting with Joe Paterno condones or minimizes it. The horrific acts committed by Jerry Sandusky shock the conscience of every decent human being. How Sandusky was able to get away with his crimes for so long has yet to be fully understood, despite the claims and assertions of the Freeh report.

"The release of the Freeh report has triggered an avalanche of vitriol, condemnation and posthumous punishment on Joe Paterno. The NCAA has now become the latest party to accept the report as the final word on the Sandusky scandal. The sanctions announced by the NCAA today defame the legacy and contributions of a great coach and educator without any input from our family or those who knew him best.

"That the President, the Athletic Director and the Board of Trustees accepted this unprecedented action by the NCAA without requiring a full due process hearing before the Committee on Infractions is an abdication of their responsibilities and a breach of their fiduciary duties to the University and the 500,000 alumni. Punishing past, present and future students of the University because of Sandusky's crimes does not serve justice. This is not a fair or thoughtful action; it is a panicked response to the public's understandable revulsion at what Sandusky did.

"The point of due process is to protect against this sort of reflexive action. Joe Paterno was never interviewed by the University or the Freeh Group. His counsel has not been able to interview key witnesses as they are represented by counsel related to ongoing litigation. We have had no access to the records reviewed by the Freeh group. The NCAA never contacted our family or our legal counsel. And the fact that several parties have pending trials that could produce evidence and testimony relevant to this matter has been totally discounted.

"Unfortunately all of these facts have been ignored by the NCAA, the Freeh Group and the University."

Before Bernsy starts discussing it, he wrote the following about a lack of "Culture Change". You'll find that here:

Sigh, people that cheer for Penn State are not advocating child rape. Should we equate people cheering for NFL teams as in favor of DUI's, dog fighting, spousal abuse, illegal drug use?

If a culture change is required, it is not just for college sports but for sports in general. Riots, hero worship, overlooking the misdeeds of those who participate, and overinflated importance of something that shouldn't be that meaningful don't happen only at Penn State. Maybe he'll start to figure that out when he does a bunch of broadcasts from Bears training camp.

Well, let's hope the focus changes when they start broadcasting from Bourbonnais, I think starting next week sometime.

Uh oh.

Terry: "....ya know, for all the effort, time and energy we took going after these bastards....."

BernSTINE: "Yeah, I'm not happy."

Danny B. finds it "offensive" that football will be played at Penn St.

Looks to be another one of those days.

We interrupt Bernsy's diatribe on the Penn State sanctions to report that MLB Network says Ryan Dempster is Atlanta-bound in a trade.

Great point. If this somehow happened within the Bears organization, which I know is a bit of a stretch as they are obviouly smaller and far less insular than PSU, how many Bears fans would react the same way as PSU fans, rallying behind the team and the sport itself? Is their fanatacism any less rabid?

If I found out Buddy Ryan raped children and Mike Ditka covered it up so he could continue to do commercials for Montgomery Ward, I don't think I'd be a Bears fan anymore.

Hearing that and hearing Dan say "I've been very active on Twitter today..." as if that's some kind of noteworthy achievement made me PTFB moments later. Terry saying "we" as if they actually did anything is absurd.

Seeing a handful of kids gasping over the terms of the sanctions will allow them to either apply that to everyone at Penn State or the entire state of PA and let them keep doing VERY. IMPORTANT. RADIO. up to and through football season.

Dan's obsession with Tebow will rise in full force again when the NFL season starts and it will be all Penn State/Tim Tebow radio all the time.

Lots of stories that must be told.

Yup. I am not certain the Japan after WWII was entirely accurate. Partially, sure. There was some self awareness on Japan's part as well. I don't remember the particulars.

Won't even get into Spiegs German comments, Dan's non committal on the issue and just what a slippery slope this PUNishment thing can lead to.

And, according to the intro, it's going to be PSU all day, every day.
