While this has been a relatively quiet FA off-season period there are still some gems to be had. Most noteably to me is that of Phoenix defenseman Keith Ballard. Anyway tmurf, this kid (he'll be 25 in November, young ripe body) would solidify any team's top four and might even develop into a serviceable top pair option. He's not huge (5-11, 208), but he plays big and he plays smart. He's a popular guy in the locker room and he could develop into a leader. He scored just 27 points in 69 games last season, but hestill is developing and I see bigger things for this kid. 45-50 points should not be out of the question for Ballard this upcoming year.
