If you ever chose to go into the thread where I initially responded to your incorrect prediction, you would see that I called this way, WAY ahead of time.

Interesting how you focus on this thread instead of the other one.

I appreciate that you stick your neck out on sports -related topics. I really do. I was just telling somebody how I like how you stick to sports-related topics around here, ain't afraid to have your own thoughts. Something I wish I did more. But you got caught up this time. Move on, man. It's ok.

It happened. Move on.

So, you're wrong, but not quite willing to admit it yet. It's cool.

The link was from the former chairwoman of the D- 1 Committee on Infractions. I'm sure you know more about it than she does though.

Do they punish players or teams for things like fighting, drugs, etc?

Teams and conferences do. The NCAA does not.

I already said my prediction about how other teams would react was wrong. I'll say it again if that makes you happy.

Let 2012 run and conduct an investigation parallel to the Freeh Report subject matter. Find recruiting violations (they likely exist) and nail their ass on that pretext, like the NCAA did with Baylor. It's not perfectly clean but it gets the job done without unnecessarily expanding NCAA authority and creating questions about the future.

I think they at least used it as a bluff position.

I'd agree with this.

From the beginning I've seen this whole thing as only marginally being a "football story". The molester happened to work in a football program and a particular institution and those involved with it did everything possible to sweep things under the rug to maintain the football program. If we want to talk about football carrying too much sway on college campuses, it certainly isn't fair to stop at Penn State. And if a guy like danny bernstein truly believes that such a climate enables child rape or other atrocities, he should stop worrying about Penn State, which has been taken down, and start worrying about places where such a climate still exists. Because regardless of the inane mumblings of Terry Boers, the people in State College, PA are no scarier or dirtier or scummier than those living anywhere else. The penalties handed down by the NCAA have ensured that this is a football story. Who cares about the victims when there are players to be poached from a top Big Ten program. Go Illini!

Of the eight, Buckley doesn't really matter, and Bolden probably doesn't either. Redd, Fera, and Fortt are huge blows immediately. Pollard is a very well regarded recruit so his loss could have an immediate impact. Haplea will hurt depth, and he would be a starter next year. Nowicki hurts depth but there's no way of knowing how good a redshirt freshman lineman will be as they are going through their multiyear gain weight phase.

For all the talk of Redd, I think Fera is the biggest blow. He might have been the best kicker AND punter in the Big 10.
