Personally I think Bernstein needs to separate what happened and the people involved (Paterno, Sandusky and everyone else) from football. It was terrible and never should have happened and should have been stopped. They had too much power and control in that university. To me THAT is the culture that needs to change, it's not the "liking" of and routing for a football team. Bernstein makes it sound like if you like football you support child rape. Hell he's making me wanna watch them play, and I don't even watch college football.

To be fair, Dan wrings his hands quite a bit when it comes to Chicago murders. I think I recall a few times when they've played drops of athletes saying boilerplate crap like "Chicago's a great place to play" met with "yeah except for all the MURDERS here!!!" Hope no one's glad to play for New York!

Though he can also be kind of flippant about it, too: "Chicago's great except for all the murders, just don't go where all those Mondays are, lawl" to the customer service lady.

Yeah, he's often glib about that kind of stuff. My point is, he's right here in Chicago but he isn't doing anything to stop these murders. The fact that they're occurring doesn't stop him from enjoying his life, eating out, playing hockey in his basement with his kid. Those murders don't really touch him. Just like Sandusky's acts didn't really touch thousands of people who just want to watch Penn State play football on Saturday. I don't think those facts make either bernstein or the Penn State fans evil people.
