I assume it has now just gone back to the bank, but I can only guess that is close to a $1M hit to Mr North between the downstroke, payments, and plans.

It's easlily a million dollar hit for North. You didn't even take into consideration the property taxes he had to pay for the years of his ownership. How long was he sitting on these lots? Was it over 10 years?

To each their own, but why build a mansion when you're in your mid to late 50s as was Pappy's intent? No kids. No grandchildren. What the hell is the point?

You're gonna live in a 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom house for just 2 people? Doesn't make sense to me.

If I were him, at the time, I would just be content with a modest house and spend money traveling and having a high class life style.

Then again, this was more of a vanity purchase for Pappy at the time. Something to show off. When he had intentions on building his mansion, Pappy figured he'd be making a million a year for the next 15 years. I mean he really believed that. Ooops.
