Is it too late to deal ZZ to 'BBM for Dave Kerner?

I somehow just knew we were going to get a Governor reference on the board today

I'm old enough to remember when Dave Kerner was actually on The SCORE payroll when they were up the dial...He'd be on my list of guys who'd read me the phone book with his pipes.

You're 8 years old?

WOW.

I remember Dave Kerner was a SCORE Bears' beat reporter long before he went over to WBBM Newsradio as a sports anchor there. If you've heard him over the years, Kerner has smooth-sounding pipes. He's on my list of guys in sports media I'd listen to for hours at a time.

Let's give it a rest right here. I actually met Steve Olken when the White Sox were up the dial. Good guy.

Yes, Tom Greene also hosted it when WSCR 670 was WMAQ All News 67.

By the way, moment of silence please for WMAQ Radio. Thank you.

PSU talk?

Keep It.

PTFB.

Someone put up a signal flare when it's OK to turn the radio back on.

Would you believe Brian Davis actually hosted Bears' pre, halftime & postgame on 'MAQ long before he became TV voice of the Oklahoma City Thunder on FS Oklahoma?

Does anyone remember when Steve Olken got pissed at B&B for the Santo jokes?

And SomeGuy, as soon as they started talking Penn State, I turned to music.

I love how your abbrevation of 'MAQ has exactly as many characters as just typing WMAQ

Well, why don't people start referring to WSCR as 'SCR then?

Yup. I thought it fell under RPB's WSCR radio rifts. They were chewing on Santo on a Friday and Olken came on his show on Saturday and went ballistic. I guess he has a child who has the sugar. The following week B&B had to explain themselves in calmer tones.

Yep. I remember Boers saying something to the effect of "well if olken had a problem with it, he could have come to me".

Are the Bears paying him to appear on Mac's show?

ZZ can't be overly critical because of his need to maintain relationships inside Halas Hall and with the players on the field....same with Larry. The Bears don't pay him in ducats but they do pay him with interviews, info(I guess) and access. No excuses for him, it's how the game is played.

Now, when he reports to the Sandy Vagina Show, ZZ tells them what he sees and hears. Mac and Meat ask questions and then it's over. What else do they expect?

Zach (and Holmes, who puts on both hats) is paid to report on the Bears, not necessarily be critical (or positive) of the team like the shows do. I think that's the disconnect - the host feels strong on a position (generally negative) and Zach tends to be more diplomatic in his answers and clearly not as negative as some of the hosts would like him to be.

This is completely false. Zaidman's not a beat reporter, he's a paid employee of the Bears. His jock-sniffing has nothing to do with protecting access and everything to do with his willingness to collect two paychecks for being a craven shill instead of just one.
