The way I understand it, it wasn't that he didn't want to go at all... just that he wanted to wait for the Dodgers to step up. He just didn't understand that they never were. By him publicly making it obvious he really wanted Dodgers, he fucked himself because then the Dodgers never felt the need to make a real offer. Then once the Braves info hits, he says he wants more time, because he felt the Cubs should have waited until the last minute to focus on the Dodgers. At that point, Braves move on. Just really dumb overall.

But I guess part of the blame does in fact belong to Theo... as perhaps he should have let Demp know early on they weren't going to wait until the last minute to deal him.

Oh, sorry, let me rephrase that for you. The Nats nearly exactly average 16th ranked offense in MLB. Fuck, in retrospect, Dempster is really smart for avoiding that juggernaut offense.

I have met Demp 4 times, while a more naive fan (CGS for example) might say the guy couldnt have been nicer, all I could think of was what a fake this guy is. The guy had a line for everyone he met.
